Really dissapointed with the game tonight. There are just things that we just continue to do that are frustrating. We must have the most unaccountable defenders going around. I know modern footy is about run off half back etc but surely that is after you have done your defensive role. A game like tonight should really shows up where our problems are. Sam Michael did his job, Kruezer who is suppose to be a gun, was kept in check. Why do our senior defenders play soooooo far off their man. Patful and Adcock were terrible as defenders tonight and I will also throw McGrath and Yeo in their as well. Yeo is in his first couple of seasons so is forgiven. The other are suppose to be senior players, Jed is co captain, how can they be so poor?
The only reason we got so close was that Maloney and Black stood up and got the ball going forward, after this stopped only poor kicking by the Blues saved a blow out.
I also have to have a swipe at Vossy, Joel was done right from the start and we didn't have a plan B? They didn't even give him a rest, as the game went on he was making mistakes because he was exhausted.
Last year we got pumped by the Bombers, Blues and Pies, we are 1-1 and should be 2-0, we are improving but if we dish this up next week then we will get pumped.

I am not so sure. I would give him another game tbh, he did his job tonight. It is a bit of a reflection of where our defensive is at when we really need Clarke to come back in, given he has played 4? games.

Not much he could do 2 of our 4 best tall defenders were suspended. Another one was injured.
Plan B would have been a white flag.
Do we have any rebounding defenders that can use the ball well at all? We need some right about now. With Golby/Hanley combo pushing further up the ground we need someone for deep defensive 50. Yeo cannot kick to save his life, Docherty isn't showing anything at all, and Adcock is just over enthusiastic most of the time and gets ahead of himself.

Agreed. Kreuzer's three behinds were from a tough snap on the boundary, and two shots from 40m+ out. He wasn't giving away any easy shots.
The slow start cost us again though, working your way back from 22 points down at quarter time is always going to put you behind the 8-ball.
Plan B would have been getting on the phone and telling him to play 1m off him, not 20-30m!
what did that add? What does Capper have to do with anything?

Yeah it did. What surprised me is that it took 3 quarters.
And Plan B worked.
Would agree with you but Patfull didn't play the required role either way. He stood 10-15 metres off Waite for much of the night. Merrett and or Maguire would've been handy but not having them was even more the reason why J-Patt had to lockdown

Who by, we had no backline mate, Patfull did the best he could.
What was Vossy supposed to do, we had no one else.
If we had Merrett.Golby and Clarke we most likely would have won.
I am shitty with Merrett to be honest.
Staker?, Lisle wasn't doing much up forward in the first half and has played down back? Surely we could have made a few moves even to give Joel a rest. Waite was their only weapon up forward, it wasn't just the goals he scored it was also the lift that he gave the blues that hurt us.
Lisle was good when the acid was on - took some strong grabs. Ace isn't close to offering what Lisle gives us ATM
Yeah I watched it, what I was referring to was his kicking. I thought he played well enough but his disposal let him down, especially when he wasn't kicking it sideways. He came to the club as a potential Drummond replacement (long accurate kicks). I have not recalled one yet.
Not good enough in the end but we are definitely improved from last year. The games was there to be won and the more experienced heads got there in the end.
Joel was beaten but I thought our biggest blunder was not having Staker back full time to help.
Thought Michael had a solid debut, did his job on the resting ruck-man. Green looked good when he came on. Lisle not getting it done as either a ruck-man or forward, when Leuy went off we were still in it but we lost our ability to compete at the stoppages. Longer a must in inclusion for me.
The second quarter showed what we can be, but are list is just not well enough developed to compete with a top 8 side with that many outs.
