I think, at the end of the night we were lucky to be within 13pts.
It was a good game regardless.
Just silly errors.

Yeah, the pressure was on us...Even Mr Cool under pressure, The silky skill Black made a fundamental mistake..turn over goal...we showed what we are capable of.. inaccurate kicking on both sides.. just need a few more of the lads to start standing up...and that will happen.

Patfull was always in for a rough night. He did ok, but geez he was frustrating to watch at times. Rarely moved the ball on quickly and our game plan is dead if we move it that slow out of our backline. Merrett, Clarke and Golby in the team would have had me throwing some $ on the lions.

Credit to Carlton for their defence. Slowed our game down for 3/4 of the night. Couldn't believe the amount of times the ball was punched away only to go straight to a blues player.

Bring on the pies.

Would like to see Lisle and Michael swapped around next game. Lisle just doesn't seem like a natural forward.

I thought that would be Vossy's master stroke in the last quarter.

Patful had a tough gig and did his best.
McGrath is a forward IMHO. He can winbus games as a forward. He is a more dangerous small forward than Green at this stage.

Probably not a time to be too analytical. We lost, which is very disappointing, but not by much. Probably should have been more but when we looked at this run of games at the beginning of the year we were probably thinking it would be a lot worse. The challenge now is not to get blown away over the next few weeks - especially if we are without Browny. We are still very young remember.

What really hurt us tonight was having no other leading forward apart from Brown.

With Staker going back, I must say I was hoping Cornelius would be selected tonight to fill that secondary target role, or at the very least another option . Lisle pushed too far up tonight (probably on coaches orders) which again exposed Brown as the sole target.

We lost by 13pts with the umpires balls deep in us and 2 key defenders missing. Wtf is with all this negative shit?

Maybe the fact HAD Carlton actually had boot to ball, we would of lost by 60+?
How about the fact the only time we looked like a working football team was during the 2nd quarter?
How about our inability to mark up for 3 quarters of the match?
How about our silly errors from inside our own 50M defensive line?

This. The scoreline flattered us. Carlton's 20 missed shots flattered us. I said at quarter time that both defences looked shaky and our only real chance of winning was to win the clearances. We did this in the second and looked pretty damn good - how good was Moloney in that spell? But after that we let their mids just take the ball out of the centre at will and it was just a game of 'how many' from then on. We were just terrible in defence - standing off the man, no body contact, weak challenges. Every time we broke forward it looked like we might score but I just never thought we would score more than we conceded.

Pretty disappointing game in the end.

Kicking a football is easy. Rebounding the football out of defence and missing targets by 10m is NOT easy to watch. I would like to see Hanley rebound from the 50 now instead of from outside 50. He is out best kick of the football probably right now.
