Can someone tell me how long a 1/4 goes for? I don't know if it was just me, but the game seemed very short compared to EDFL senior games.
Yeah I was at the game last night too and each of the first 3 qtrs only went for 23 minutes. The last qtr only went for 27 minutes and there was a stoppage for a stretcher. Definitely couldn't have been 20 plus time on last night

Keston is right, 20 plus time on but it is the definition of time on.

RDFL does not play full AFL time on rules. The clock does not stop for ball ups/ out of bounds unless the umpire signals time off ie ball went over the fence.

You will find quarters are anywhere from 23-27 minutes in the RDFL depending on the number of scores and other factors. Full time on rules played in the majority of other leagues, EDFL, Ballarat etc see quarters generally range from 28-33 minutes.

They end up playing close to an extra 20 minutes of game time.

Thanks so much for that. :thumbsu:

Some strange games today. Both would have been extremely close if not for a quarter of one-sided footy a-piece.

Diggers v Riddell was a cracking game for the first 3 quarters and then Diggers blew Riddell out of the water with a 46 to 0 last quarter. Fitness an issue for the Riddell boys perhaps?
It looked like Sunbury played to the conditions better at Romsey tonight. Romsey looked like they wanted to play their standard style of footy and they were superior in the first quarter before the ball got slippery, but Sunbury adapted much better to the damp and took control with a 41 to 0 second quarter and from that point were good enough to keep their lead.

Very interested to see what happens at Broadford tomorrow.

Really good opening round at the Burra today. These two clubs rarely disappoint with their history and rivalry. In tough conditions really good contest. Riddell were gallant as you would expect they have been so good over many many years, but diggers had that extra gear when required in my opinion. Told today Riddell actually have lost ten plus players over summer from last year team, that's a huge turnover, however they have brought some quality in by looks of welsh so will stay around the mark you would think. Good start.

Understand quite a few out for the big Sunday clash
I think to many people read to much into the first three rounds a lot of sides have players out injured and not available or still feeling there way with new recruits etc it's to early to get any idea things start to take shape between rounds 6 thru to 10 look at last season the top six was decided last round
As a back to back premiership coach after there round one loss last year said it's a marathon not a sprint ask the turtle

Great to finally get started tonight. Good luck to Daniel in his 1st game as a senior coach. :thumbsu:
Called in after work to watch the last 1/4, had a chat with Sal afterwards who said the size of the ground caught them out & that a lot of players still don't know each others name's yet.

Watched diggers v bombers yesterday. The bombers will be fine, as someone had said they have had turnover but are very young. Will get better and jelled very well in the 3rd qtr when they broke thru the lines, there ground will suit them and I see sammutt didn't play and Peter Robertson didn't play but was there watching aswell Is robertson playing this year? His name is still on the team lists. Diggers play that ground to a tee, maybe there strength could be there weakness aswell.

Watched broadford v macedon, macedon were clinical. Broadford has alot of work to do on structures. Never seen so many goals kicked from a behind that went coast to coast for macedon. Prob 5 to 6 goals from it.

Agree a lot of goals kicked from broadfords forward line lack of pressure no excuses but they had 5 quality players out this week and played kids but where convincingly beaten only round one but a lot of work to be done agree with that

If they kicked straight early it would have been a completely different game. Two things I notice was the press and zone need work as I said before and were broadford were taking there shots from. Most shots were taken from the pockets. Need to funnel the ball down the middle more and fell down at CHF hence y they went so wide.

But in saying that it is only round one, a lot to work on but they will be top 4 for sure. Enough signs to say that.

The ground was massive an probably bigger than Doutta's who have a huge ground too. Agree with cranium65 about discipline. One red card and a yellow isn't going to help.

Got no doubt they'll improve and I think the 1st half showed they've got a bit to offer.

Can i ask why helmers didnt coach broadford today?
Cats looked good. Bford were ok but kicked poorly.

Spewing to learn the clash of The Kangaroo's is no longer to be a night fixture, was looking forward to the Spycritic coming to introduce himself,

I reckon the clubs would appreciate people spread the word if you knew of anyone looking to attend, I just read this on the RDFL site.

Yeah planned on watching it myself, never mind. Hope the scores on the site are live and uptodate.

Jason Williams clearance rejected by Diggers because he still owes for a chook raffle last year.

Whatever happened to just dropping a barrel off as a sweetener like the good old days, or don't that happen anymore?
