RDFL 2016 Season discussion

Have Rockbank seeked/investigated additional player points from the RDFL to take away any limitations they may face on the recruiting front. I think they will need special compensation in the short/medium term.

I'm sure I read somewhere they'd been allocated 46 points. Probably not enough.

Found the article about the points.

THE Riddell District Football League has set its player points cap for next season — but six clubs will be immune to the measures.

The league this afternoon confirmed its cap would stand at 42 in 2016 before dropping one point for each of the following two seasons.

However, all but four clubs — reigning premier Romsey, Riddell, Rupertswood and Sunbury Kangaroos — applied to the league for special consideration to be allocated more points next season, with six being granted their wishes.

Wallan and Lancefield were the biggest winners, each set to be allowed 48 points next season after citing a lack of recent on-field success and geographical challenges in their applications.

Rockbank, Broadford and Woodend-Hesket have each been given three extra points because of similar circumstances while Melton Centrals will have 44 points to work with next year.

Lets be honest Rockbank could have 148 points this season and it would not help them. They dont have the $$$ nor the the resources to recruit. No quick fix to the problem but I do think they will keep battling away as have done last 20 years. Most important thing is they atleast have a club and keep trying.Always easy to criticise past management and coaches but fact is its a tough sell.I wish them luck as over the years they have been a good bunch of people and I found support the opposing clubs bar sales well unlike some turds who often BYO.

What happens with the POINTS to the players that where at Kilmore last year and are staying in the RDFL ,bet the league has no answer on that one?

Very good point swans! A player shouldn't be forced to play in another league if there club decides to change. Very valid point raised here. IMO should be rated as a 1 point player if staying in the same league in this circumstance only..

The modern day footy player a quote from the suburban footballer

After last years 3 point preliminary final loss, half forward flanker Nugget got up in front of the team and said that if we were going to take the next step next year, we were all going to have to commit and make sacrifices. 2 weeks ago the president asked Nugget to take a $25 a game pay cut so we could afford a gun wingman who was moving down from the bush. Nuggets clearance came through yesterday.
:p:p

One thing I learnt over the years, always have departures on good terms. The grass is not always greener on the other side, I take it you wouldn't want him to change his mind.

Now
I know that was a quote it's not directed at you.

Hey keston, I dont no you personally or this nuggett or am really associated with a club in the rdfl. but outing nugget on bigfooty is a disgrace. There is always two sides to the story. Some things are best kept in house. This does not show your club broadford in a great light and has left my thoughts on your club not great at all. You keep harping on about the good old days of player loyalty, I hope you were a one club player. Players have and always will move for money, have a look at your current team. Oh and the old saying dont throw stones in glass houses.

Love watching all the so called footy experts commenting on this one!!!!!!! Makes me laugh.........if a club has a good thing going and u think u are better off leaving on your own for 25 bucks extra then **** off and good riddence
Funny as mate some of these guys are so hilariously funny

From what im hearing..or there will be a lot of tired 18s
12 months ago when Kilmore FNC sought permission to field a 1's and 3rds only the powers that be were far from accomodating, be interesting to see how this one pans out.

On the points, majority of Kilmore lads u refer to are around that 3rds age so can't seeing it a big issue.

Not sure what people know of players in the EDFL, but some handy players names now up on the clearance boards heading to Wallan. Should give a few teams a bit of a shake up.
Will still Need a few more yet to sneak into finals contention
