most importantly Skip no injuries? Good effort with the win, yes very committed list and surely after today Kent will consider his options, could kick 150 at other clubs with decent supply.
No mate all players got through the game fine
Very privileged to coach such a great group of lads
Also would like to thank Jeff Andrews Daniel Nolan and Ross sleight for their help during the campaign
Great team effort

Great win by the rdfl boys today. Skip did a fantastic job considering plenty of players weren't available to play. I think skip showed plenty of balls by playing several older guys that have been overlooked in recent times.
Lobby kicking 5 is testament to that.

I'd like to make mention that plenty of players that refuse to play interleague when they start to think they are something special, perhaps take a leaf out of the Brett chambers book. IMO he is the best footballer in the comp and always makes himself available. All class.

Also it's great to see rexy Hickman stick it up all the negative w***ers once again!

Can anyone tell me how some of the rdfl young guns went today like jack Osullivan etc????

I thought Chambers was best on today, he changed the flow of the game early when Riddell looked a bit unsettled.

Jack O'Sullivan played a great game, Austin Cicero was in and out of the contest and Rex played a brilliant game at CHF, thought he was stiff not to be named in the best players

Wallan FNC Past Players Day and 1977 Reunion

Ray Pollock (Wrecker) is organising this years past players day.

To every one that is interested WALLAN football club is having a reunion to celebrate the 70 s as well as the 77 grand final so to all players officials trainers and of course the supporters and any one else that was involved in that era is welcome. Its on the 12th of August 2017.

We have organised a game against Broadford. Who we beat in 77. It is at the GreenHill Club Wallan from 11am onwards.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Past Broadford players and officials are also welcome

Well done to all involved with both interleague games on the weekend, musta done something right to prove a few negative nellies wrong. Not just RDFL were winners but I'm thinking AFL Goldfields had a goood weekend across all their venues.

Did I hear right that the RDFL senior boys were all present and in the rooms prior to the 18s game? If so a wonderful initiative which I'm sure wasn't lost on the up and comers and their parents.

Spirited effort by an extremely young looking Woodend side. I noted their player points was only 23. Pretty amazing effort.

Another windy day up in Wallan and for some reason the game just seemed to lack a bit of polish. Not sure if it was the pink ball which seemed to float around a bit, or it was just one of those days. Don't think we can afford another slow start next week against Sunbury.

Things will fire up soon.. usually allow a good month to look at players before it fires up.. then we'll be getting them up frequently after that.. already on the list of things to do.

Great to hear. ChrisThaLedg.
If the same criteria as previous
Corey Grindlay at Wallan has to be worthy of a nomination.
Getting better every game he plays.

Looking from the outside, whats everyones thoughts on the cats?? They look like the team to beat although maybe lacking depth..?

Clearly the pace setters at the moment. Have a great list with most positions covered. The other top teams have some obvious holes. Don't think depth is a massive issue unless they get a horrid run with injuries. The kids they have played have done well and performed better than the Rupertswood youngsters on Anzac Day. Really the depth players they have lost were done at senior level anyway and playing good kids will not leave them in any worse a position.

Potential top 6 for me is

Macedon
Diggers
Sunbury
Wallan
Rupo
Romsey

Teams 2-4 could be in any order. Riddell looking likely to miss for the first time in almost two decades. Crucial few games for Riddell coming up. If a few wins get strung together they can still make it.

Im really impressed with riddells rebuild. From count they had 10 players who played in last years grand final play on saturday. Rest are kids from juniors with ollie playing apart. With 4 to 5 key senior players missing with injury they should improve in the year to come. I believe they will miss this years final, but with a very experienced coaching crew i belive the hard yards put in now with prob the youngest team in the rdfl will put them in a great position going forward.

Would chuck in Romsey and Woodend as very young teams I've seen so far this year.

Sunbury v Wallan game of the round this week? Big test for our back 6 which is usually very strong against a pretty formidable Sunbury forward line. Won't be much in this one.

Diggers by 47
Riddell by 14
Macedon by 55
Lancefield by 28
Rupertswood by 22

Just want to put out there a massive congratulations to Saxon Woodroffe who will this week play his 400th game for the Rams. Through all of the highs and lows at the club over a long period of time, Saxon has stood firm and remained loyal to the club.

Well done Saxon!!

#RESPECT :thumbsu: A rarity in players these days, especially at club's who don't enjoy great successes

Since when do Riddell rebuild? Good on them for playing kids but they have played kids for the last ten years. Good coaching teams blood kids on the run whilst winning it is called developing your list. Rebuild at local level is a bit naive imo there is no draft so you must develop your list on the run whilst you win. Again good on them for continuing to play young players, but I see that as no different to previous years like all clubs in the comp. even Macedon and diggers are putting young players in the senior team.

So what's your real point here .

I belive its a rebuild at riddell. 4 players retire, 4 to 5 left to other clubs, 4 to 5 out with injury means a completely different team. Instead of goin on a recruting spree they play juniors and locals. Its a generation that has changed over. Played 13 new players from there juniors this year. Romsey have done the same. From 2015 grand final there completley different team. Whatever reason players left, play juniors last year and now are on the way up. I belive them two clubs are rebuilds of succeeful teams that have finished there reign up the top.
