I can speak on behalf of most of the umpires in this league and say that reporting players is the last thing we want to do.[/QUOTE]

Umpiring been good this year, although reporting a guy for telling the runner to tell the bench he is "fu&$ed" might contradict that last quote a bit. Maybe that umpire was not in the "most" category. Still umpiring been good.

Heard there were some ugly incidents at the rockbank Kilmore game. Anyone know anymore than just rumours?

You asked,
I wasn't there but heard a Kilmore player was hit from behind after a goal was kicked by rockbank.

The info was from a Kilmore bloke so the lateness does depend on who you support but it did send the Kilmore player to hospital. The bloke I spoke to also said thaw several of there young blokes were targeted by rockbank and they finished with 17 on the ground.

Certainly nothing that I saw. There was only one player taken to hospital in an ambulance and he was a Rockbank player. The only player I saw come off for Kilmore was Cody Phillips who hurt his ankle, but I can't comment on if any others finished the game injured.

There was absolutely no targeting of players, only one minor push and shove all day and the game was played in good spirit. So from my point of view there wasn't anything untoward.

From my point of view, just wanted to say how great it was to see Adam Goudge running around injury free, champion of the RDFNL and top bloke.

Also a big congrats to Matty Bell who played his 250th game for Wallan on the weekend.

Well I must be getting told s$&@t.
Was told today that 2 blokes from each side were sent off. Clement from Kilmore was hit by a rockbank player from behind. Clement was concussed and was taken to the hospital by his parents.
The offending Rockbank player was reported.

I wasn't there so will not name the Rockbank player.

Well no player from either side was reported and neither side had a player sent off, so not sure where that is coming from.

So only 6 games have been played but I think its safe to say no team outside the current 6 can make finals?
Also notice the top 7 teams in seniors and reserves are the same albeit in different orders. This highlights the struggling clubs lack of depth and shows they're a long way off the pace.
No surprise in the 3rds with Rupo undefeated and on 850% but good to see Kilmore also up high with a good %.Personally I think its a win just to have a 3rds side these days and I admire all coaches that take it on as im sure its a tough sell.
I read alot about points system coming in which may work but im not so sure but something needs to be done such as 2 tiered comp else I reckon a club or 3 may fall over in near future.
Edfl Efl Wrfl and Nfl all have multiple divisions and the time is NOW for Rdfl to do the same.Just my thoughts anyone else?

I think the competition is doing just fine ..
Broadford - endured narrow losses to Macedon and Romsey .. were in positions to win both
Lancefield - one of the most improved teams this year.. had narrow losses to Riddell and Broadford.. had 17 men on the field at a crucial stage against Macedon when they were ahead before being run down.. a far more improved line-up..
Rockbank - competitive in all their games and lost a lot of talent in the off-season, a lot of work off the field and will take time.
Wallan - were on top after two rounds.. you still need to win the games to get there and haven't been too bad in patches.
Melton Centrals - competitive against Diggers Rest.. new coach, building greater depth at the club and getting games into their Under 18.5s .. will be a stronger club as a whole in the next two to three years under Fitzy
Kilmore - to have a team on the track is a big win.. they just need to keep hanging strong..
Woodend/Hesket - new coach, new squad (mostly) .. new ground to play on.. new ground to train on.. have more problems than any other club.. will have one of, if not the best ground next year and can bank on them to press for finals next year..

Is Romsey vs sunbury on Saturday or Sunday? Heard it was moved to Sunday but fixture still shows Saturday, does anyone know?

ChrisThaLedge I respect your input on this forum and pumping up the Rdfl but to say its going well is nonsense.Rupo as a club kicked a total of 63 gls to Wallans 6 on satdy how is that good competition.Kilmore have struggled for a long time along with Centrals ,Rockbank,Lancefield, and Broadford(until this years influx of $$$$).
Its been proven over the last 10-15 yrs these clubs struggle to compete with the big clubs.
Keston I presume you wanted to paste my statement for future reference in case you make finals you can say I was wrong well good for you if this comes to fruition.
Two divisions with promotion and relegation system is the go though I realise the league need another 3 clubs for this to happen.

Couldn't agree more on most of your comments except for some $$$

Thanks but wasn't it recently that Rupertswood had a dip in form and winless Woodend/Hesket gave them a good nudge just before the interleague weekend while at the same time Wallan were still on top of the ladder..
Kilmore were a genuine finals threat a small handfull of years ago and Centrals have been knocking on the door of finals in recent seasons.. Lancefield narrowly missed finals last season after dominating two years in 2009-10.. Rockbank made finals last year and Broadford will push for a spot in the finals this year.. I'm confident that in the next 12 to 18 months, this league will be extremely strong.. back to 2010 (?) where even later in the season, 10 teams were in the finals race and bottom placed Rockbank toppled ladder leaders Riddell..

If your going back 15 years I think you will find the Sunbury Kangaroos were just about bottom most years. Got a good board, good coach and plus a captain that lead from the front, things changed for the better. The Board backed in the coach and captain for the long term and they brought everyone along for the ride. The current people have just continued to build on the good work that was done. But took a few years of off the field work before they got the results on field.

Who wins this weekends games an why ?
My tips
broadford comfortably over wallan
Rockbank by 20points on an improving woodend
Melton by 50 over Kilmore
Riddell by 20 over Rupo
Romsey to go down to Sunbury by 2 goals
Macedon to have first loss of the year by one point to Diggers.

My tip six
Sunbury
Diggers
Macedon
Riddells
Romsey
Broadford

Romsey 5th? Macedon have played no one, lancefield are better then riddle.

You can only beat who you play. Macedon lots of new players, they are improving each week.
Riddell beat Lancefield by 20 odd points.
Lancefield have improved but Broadford and Macedon have improved more.
Romsey from my understanding have wisley decided to blood some of there good yougsters, Whelan, Wood, Patterson etc.

Whats your top six?

Sunbury
Romsey
Diggers
Rupo
Macedon only cause of easy draw
Broadford cause of there draw
Or lancefield or riddell fighting for it?
Why do u have romsey at 5th and no rupo in your 6?
Cheers

You could be right Romsey to 4th,
Rupo have lost a heap of players think Macedon and broadford have gone past them, they are chance for sixth along with Lancefield but you only get to name six.
