My thoughts:

Firstly, far too many players in the squads. Won't mention names and say who doesn't deserve a guernsey, but there are quite a few there that have no hope of playing in my opinion.

Secondly, do we go for young kids or pick more experienced players. I was speaking to OMNIPOTENT last night on the phone and we were discussing the amount of good youngsters in the competition. Not only are they playing seniors, but they are also having a big impact. Players such as: Climas, Petran, Richmond, Dawson, Hede, Pronk, Saunders, Hamilton, Carroll, Hepburn, Bowen, Dettmann, Collins, Dorman, Wright etc.

For what its worth, the West Team should blitz. The East Team may need to play 20 men on the field.

but robbo and cornish are playing for the east matt...:p

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Heard he was wrapt had a free round of golf thanks to you definately didnt drop any money . when correct weight was declared there was three winners, and only one bloke had to pay up to them and that was yourself.

When they left you were in the dam scavaging for golf balls hoping to set up a stall and sell them three for five dollars to the members on saturday.
If you had of found all your lost balls maybe you wouldnt have needed to get your feet wet.

Any mention of the tennis lesson?

2008
Army $500
Power $100

Happy to be in the money at the moment.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

or too many of them shouting a beer .

hey kingy you are in the know at bomberland how has andy mccabe been going.

Finchy will play his 1st game this week in the 2's. Had to work on his tan as the bomber jumper made him look even whiter than the Sunbury one. Black and red is not a good look if you have pasty white skin.

thats good to hear, i got told he mightn't play at all this year as he was struggling with his apprenticeship and may have to do nightschool to catch up , and wouldnt be able to train .

Here's one for all you BigFooty posters out there. Name your club and select which player they would love to snatch from another RDFL side to make yours better. I'll do my area clubs:

Kilmore - Lee James.
Wallan - Ryan Connellan.
Lancefield - Jason Allen.
Romsey - Daniel Ellery.

You'll find that Matt Shugg hasn't played a game all year due to an ankle injury. I think they'll want Jake Savage but again why am I not suprised... People not doing their homework on Westside teams. Good to see born and bred South players coaching the Allstar teams. I'd love to have Shane back at the club but alas... Is it true that both coaches aren't allowed to play for a team this year? Or just until after the Allstar game?

Just wondering why these squads are different to the RDFL wedsite squads???

first time poster here, I just want to comment on the standard of umpiring especially in the under 16 age group. we have had an umpire call simmo a couple of times more recently a few weeks ago, he completly lost control of the game and the free kick count was 28-8 in what should have been a great game with the 2 top teams playing it was turned into a frustrating rabble thanks to the whistle happy simmo.

How can this guy be allowed to umpire and I know that there are a shortage of umpires but this guy is a shocker and shouldn't be allowed on the field with a whistle

given that the local umpire advocate has posted on here since my post and hasn't mentioned my post does that mean that this simmo is a protected species, if so I will consider pulling my son out of this league if they continue to protect this idiot.

Mate, there is no use complaining about this bloke, we have all played local footy for the last 20 years with this moron, juniors and seniors and he actually feeds off the negative feedback and loves the fact he can turn a game in seconds (proves it time and time again) I'm not one to complain about umps especially with such a shortage off them but just teach yours boys to ignore him (fu#king hard i know) and thank god that he's twin brother no longer umpires.

no need for that, we have all had him, imagine getting 2 of them, also had that many times. One of them is retired and it will hopefully only be a matter of time before the other one will. They are not bad blokes off the field but just a bit whistle happy on it.
It won't happen over night but it will happen. :D

i know its premature (im sure matt knows all about that!!), but lets say for argument sake like the afl at the moment what happens if we start getting alot of injuries, dose the squad get topped up again?
plus i may have not read it but where is the game being played?
and the teams where are they training??

The whisper is the game will be played at Riddell. I think we should get by with the squads we have. The AFL is not having problem with squad numbers, they are just losing their marquee players.

I took witness to the same game and unfortunately this is something we have all had to deal with over the years. He actually did our 16's grand final in 2002 and the same events happened in that game as what it did in mine. The unfortunate thing at this point in time is that as much as he has become a bit if an iconic figure for the RDFL and its umpires as well as creating that strong relationship off field with players is that he could be hindering the perception of young kids attitudes and development towards football and umpires in general.

The Game your reffering to was a little dissapointing, but removing your young bloke to another league because of 'Simo' could only doing injustice to your son and his development.

Is this game for real ? East meets West ? Who came up with this idea ?

Would it be better to play another league By-annual ?

Mid year sometime , have 16's 18's and the 0ne's + also have the Netball play same day A's and B's

Could turn into a real big event over time - All the gate moneys go to ie: Royals childrens , canteen , star-lite

Target one League ...

Would other leagues think this could work ?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

but the post i'm refering too made absolutely no reference to that game, your trying to strip a kid of his credibility because of his age?? as some of the other posts have said i would back a 12 year old kid to be able to establish if player A has punched player B. I know when I first started out it was rather intimidating to lay a report, the kid (and i have absolutely no idea who he is) should be commended for showing the balls to make such a call.
