Have I missed something where is Gaaaaaaaaary going
Someone just put up a hypothetical. I think he's staying put for the rest of 2009. So don't worry, the Redbacks are still in contention.

Have I missed something where is Gaaaaaaaaary going
I have no doubt that some players at the Redbacks walk a little taller with GAAARRRRRRY in the side , but the side they have now is a much different side than the one that played Riddell earlier in the year . No less than Ten players in last weeks team that didn't play against Riddell in round 5 . Thats not including Gaaarrrryyyyyyy.
lee james would be no good at rockbank because he has lost his leap and he only kicks goals in junk time these days ah ha ha
true the leap has dissapeared from the great lee james
just like the permanant holiday the hair on your head has appeared to have taken
must have been a good game sunb v digg
4pts and a crucial game for both good win by the kangas
riddell seem to be running out of steam at the wrong end of the year
i would put macedon lancefield and romsey ahead of riddell atm.
should be a absolute cracker of a finals series this year

It was very close all day, the pressure was on early with a number of skill errors from both sides, but after half time it was a pretty good game to watch, 3/4 time i would have seen the biggest all negative spray i have seen a coach give his side, but still diggers couldn't get over the line although a couple of missed opportunities could have cost them. Losing Sims in the first Q with a hammy didn't help.
I did hear Hopkins called for the first Sunday training session in 5 years.
Venues for the 2009 finals.
Week 1 Riddell,Melton Centrals Sunbury.
Week 2 Macedon and Woodend
Week 3 Romsey
Week 4 Lancefield
I hope we get rain for round one, then i hope we get no rain for round 2
Would Macedon have missed out on hosting the prelim due to hosting the Interleague game or is it that Romsey surface will be in much better condition?
Venues for the 2009 finals.
Week 1 Riddell,Melton Centrals Sunbury.
Week 2 Macedon and Woodend
Week 3 Romsey
Week 4 Lancefield
It should be something like this:
Week 1 - Lancefield, Romsey, Riddell.
Week 2 - Romsey, Riddell.
Week 3 - Lancefield.
Week 4 - Macedon.
NB: Can swap Macedon and Lancefield around.
Work out a way so clubs with shit grounds get money, but please, keep finals football at finals-like grounds.
Macedon and Lancefield are the two PREMIER grounds in the RDFL, the others fall well short. Riddell and Romsey are the next best on ground size and playing surface (haven't seen Riddell this year so apologies if its not).
Woodend, Melton Central (even if its on the Bloods' ground) and the Kangaroos should not be able to host finals. No offence to these clubs but their facilities are inadequate. Romsey's rooms may be shit but at least they have a surface.

What a bloody joke. Dropped in for half at Rockbank and Centrals on sat and both grounds were in terrible condition for this time of year. I assume that belt does not receive any annual rainfall. Meltons ground was rock hard all over and the centre pitch area would provide WACA like bounce if bowled on tomorrow. Spoke to some of 2's boys from Macedon and they all said how sore there feet were from just running around on the ground in moulds.Yeah i agree, our ground is rock hard. We had to put some water on it to soften it up, trust me the night before was worse! but with yesterdays down pour and the rain we received over night should help it a little. we are hoping he council can water it over the next couple of weeks to help for the final. When melton recieved water, this ground was one of the lushest... wouldn't say the best in the league but it was a picture!
Matt can you please explain what "Facilities are inadequate", i would think that change rooms at both Sunbury and Woodend are as good as any other club in the comp" The social rooms are also a match, Netball courts are available at both, Parking is more than acceptable, I cant speak for Woodend surface ATM, but yes it gets boggy after rain, Sunbury's Surface would be better than what we played at Macedon 2 weeks ago, plenty of Grass cover and firm under foot, even after a down pour it holds up well, The umpires room is the only let down, facility wise. Lack of fencing as is Riddell.
Can you please tell me Why Kangaroos should not be able to host finals?????
Macedons surface was a bit heavy v Sunbury but that was due to a rare wet week. It still wasnt as heavy as sunburys ground when they met in rd 4 though, think a bit of the old morrabbin rain (think sprinklers left on) may have been to blame back then though. Other than the umpires room the other big let down is the howling wind that always roars down the ground at sunbury. Not on their own their though, it does same at Kilmore, Rockbank, Centrals, Diggers, Wallan and often Romsey. This is what makes Lancefield & Macedon best grounds, protection from strong winds.
Plus the fact its a pretty small ground at Boardman.
Stick to the best grounds, see the best footy and we'll all live happily ever after.
If it rains in the lead up to the Woodend final, I'd love to see the egg on the RDFL's board faces.
How they get finals just astounds me. Must be a lot of under the table cash floating around at RDFL HQ.
Isnt it suppose to be a neutral ground for the Grand Final, If yes and Lancefield make it to the big 0ne ,will the game be transferred possibly to the Mount

At the end of the day players dont give a rats when the balls bounced for the game, i dont recall any player complaining to an umpire about the ground their playing on, or a player saying it was the ground that beat us today, get over it an move on!!!
Why is it, who said this, most leagues offer the hosting of a final to be an advantage, (Sunbury BFL for example). In the RDFL it is generally taken note of whether clubs would be able to host a final if their side is playing on the day, most clubs struggle to find helpers on game day this is why the league generally don't play them at home. Some clubs have ample of helpers and it doesn't really affect them off field.
Where would they play if it were a Macedon Lancefield final?

Ever spoken to a player that has played a final at woodend the past 3 years?
So you dont believe it to be an advantage to play on your home ground, wouldnt Woodend or Macedon love it if they made it and it was at there home ground. Many moons ago the Final had to be played on a neutral ground in the RDFL whats changed.
Romsey, like the good old days in the mid 90s.
The whole Lancefield community gets behind the grand final and because its held on a Sunday, most of the work is done the day before.

Been there on the Saturday in the past to help set up, when you were a player at Lancefield, Matthew?
I'm sure Lancefield make some money on the day, but most of the money is spent on improving the facilities eg over the past few years- scoreboard, change rooms and PA system (not on players) so if the Grand Final is held there in the future both the club and the league and it's supporters are proud of having great GF's on the best surface in any weather. that run like clock work every year. Why spoil a good thing and then have to worry about if rain is predicted the week before or not. Romsey and Lancefield have the two best surfaces and parking to cater for large crowds. Play the two most important games of the year at the best two venues!!!
