I had a phone call from the newly appointed coach of Romsey last night. Certainly a step in the right direction for the redbacks IMO.
With their strong list and his coaching experience and knowledge of the league, all US opposition clubs need to be on our toes.

WE HAD 7 GREAT APPLICANTS. OVER THE LAST 5 MONTHS A COUPLE OF US STOOD BACK AND EVALUATED WERE WE NEED TO GO AS A CLUB. WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING MARK AND RECONISED HIS ABILITIES AS A LEADER OF MEN, WITH HIS MASSIVE FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE YOUNGER GENERATION,AND HIS ANAITE ABILITY TO TRANSFER HIS LIFE SKILL TO A YOUNGER GROUP.
WE AS A COMMITTE OF MANAGEMENT AND COACHING PANNEL REALISE WE HAVE GOT A GREAT BUNCH OF TALENTED YOUNGESTERS RANGING FROM 17 TO 26 YEARS OF AGE. MARK'S ABILITY TO WORK AND TEACH THESE TALENTED YOUNGSTERS AND I MEAN TALENTED IS SECOND TO NONE.
SINCE MARK'S APPOINTMENT THE COMMUNITY, PLAYERS AND EX PLAYERS ARE A BUZZ!!
I HAVE NOT SEE THE ROMSEY TOWNSHIP THIS EXCITED SINCE 2009 WHEN THE ONE AND ONLY GGGAAAARRYY!! CAME ALONG.
OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS A NUMBER OF EX PLAYERS HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH THE CLUB REQUESTING TO RETURN UPON MARK BEING APPOINTED.
THERE ARE TO BE SOME BIG SIGNINGS AND I MEAN BIG SIGNINGS OVER THE NEXT WEEK.

Shane Geedes already on his early recruitment drive of players with several of his interleague players in Cam Dawson and Dean Smith Whitling already being contacted and offered reasonable amounts of money.
Any coach in Geddes position would do the same and good on him for having another crack at coaching, however this is a club that refussed to return as they thought it was a step backwards in quality and standards yet they want to build their senior side on RDFL talent?

Thats easy - the price of good RDFL players is a lot less than the price of good BalFL players. Once proven in the Balfl the opportunity to earn good money increases. I don't think Geddes is looking to win the flag next year - with the limited budget at South he needs anyone that maybe able to complete at that level.

Which AFLQ side is young Gerard Liddell supposed to be linked to ?? Southport or Aspley. Knowing the standard up in Qld he may find it a tad tougher than he thinks.

Very interesting to hear pederson now coaching romsey, though he is pretty familiar with alot of the boys over there. Sounds like it could be a big year over at the redbacks.

Pederson was always going to leave at the end of the year. He wanted to give jayco the job, not sure if jayco applied for it though.... Maybe they can see something we outsiders cant, from what i hear the coaching job was already set for Scott Gilchrist half way through the year.
Jayco went to school in Kilmore and has a few close friends there thats maybe why he left.
dean helmers spotted in talks with 3 young boys believed to be some of bendigos finest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
