Checked with a sandhurst contact - Martin won’t be a shadow of his former self - just helping out as he is mates with Courtney Johns who is also a firey - surely he is still the best Ruckman in Rdfl though

Bendigosbest20 dominated Banyule’s grand final win against Eltham in NFNL division 2. Can see his dominance continuing in RDFL

Dane Swan playing for western rams round 1. How good is that by the rams. 👏👏👏👏
Sure to bring a bit of excitement especially in a growing area. Hopefully a big crowd shows up.
Thank you mate and a big shout out to many within the RDFL. We have had other teams sharing the post on social media as well which is really appreciated.

Numbers have been really good on the track and we are excited for the year ahead.

Hope we can start turning things around

Thanks again
Leigh Sporle (Western Rams)

Good on ya mate and great initiative by the club. Hope you boys have a great season and and win in round 1 will uplift the community Im sure. Personally think it’s great when clubs look at ways of improving their profile.

Did anything come of the fake car raffle Macedon ran last year ?? Geez that was swept away fast - I know lots of people that brought tickets and no winners were announced !!

Jeez this seems like a very quiet “nothing to see here” type scenario ! If it was a club elsewhere they’d be all over the news

So he is signed up to play one-off matches for Nangwarry, Western Rams, Gormandale and a club in the Picola region already in season 2023!

My question is how many points is he worth for each? He's gotta be on a sh1tload.

Had a friend of mine who is on the Committee at Hastings who said when he played there last year he got $10K for playing and the Sportsman Night, however reckons club made over $50K for the day on gate takings, bar, function etc.
When he spoke to Dayne, Swanny told him he does around 6-7 each year (before June 30th deadline), but nominates a home club eg: St Kilda City (last year) who he knows will play finals and possibly win a flag. He wants to win another flag before his career is over! His home club pay him but nowhere near the money he was getting off the once off clubs. Not sure of his points at each club, but would guess he would be maximum for those games.

5 Macedon Under players 18s already with clearances to Kyneton! With the prospect of a few more from what I’m hearing!

Arnt Macedon fielding an under 19s side this year?

Might have something to do with the two 17s teams Macedon had this year. When the ‘B’ loses the grand final and the ‘A’ team finishes last (both teams in the same division) it can cause a problem or two.

Good to see a new club joining the Senior ranks in 2024.

Article today about the Gisborne Giants joining. Great news for the league.
Massive task, Personally can not see it happening, There under 19’s won 2 games in the 2022 season and their hopes are riding on those players to progress into senior football for the 2024 season. Good luck to Brad and his club but with other clubs struggling to find numbers I can not see where he gets another 50 senior players from on a positive note Western Rams may get 2 wins for the season.

Well for the leagues sake I hope you are wrong.

You are right it’s a massive task and even if successful, it will be a long road to get some wins.

If they do come into the competition it may change the perception of some at Western Rams, the ones pushing for a move to the WRFL. RDFL need the Rams to stay long term.. it can’t keep losing clubs.

If they are to get seniors going then they really need to find a way to bridge the gap. Either by getting a club 18 team going this year or by starting with a reserves team in 2024. Pretty sure they will have a high number of top age players in their 19s this year which gives the some hope but you would think any good players will get a phone call from Macedon, Riddell or Woodend to see if they want some cash and success.

Very true I just can not see where the players are going to come from they will have to buy players from other clubs and to buy players they will need sponsors and with the up coming recession who is going to sponsor football clubs.

They will dominate the comp within 3 years of joining. It all comes down to population ! And the fact that Gisborne bulldogs are not well liked - Giants will be a force that the smaller clubs like Macedon / woodend won’t stop

Righto boys and girls a few whispers about the traps
First up no rumour but well done to the rams for getting swanny in for the day , something like this has the potential to make a lot of coin if done right which I’m sure the crew there are all over.

Righto anyone know who won the raffle run by Macedon yet ?
Some whispers about that no prize has been allocated ?
I’ve seen footage of the draw and it’s as dodgy as a day old curry left out in the sun.
Whilst on Macedon , a Wayne Carey at north situation could be on the cards with a new recruit , same could be said at Woodend also with who they have bought in

Diggers flag to loose this year , if they don’t win it this year I’m hearing the money will come to a rapid stop

Justin Sherman seeing out the year at romsey is paying $1.25 , this bloke has a horrible track record , let’s hope things change this year

Can you explain to me What the issues are with Sherman?
I know he finished at crazyburn with a couple of games to go .
What other clubs did he walk out on ?

I think the same happened at Laurimar or St Mary’s (the club he coached prior to Craigieburn). Things didn’t end well.

Coached them for two years .
Made a grand final second year .
He went to Northern nights after that .
So other than Crazyburn no story ?
He signed on to coach Kyabram in the GVFL whilst in the middle of a 2 year contract with Pascoe Vale. He didn’t mention that to Kyabram nor did he inform Pascoe Vale he was applying for other jobs. Situation blew up a fair bit until settlement was reached. Didn’t set the world on fire in EDFL either and was on decent coin just out of AFL/VFL.
We could have coached Ky into finals, plus not sure he actually the main coach there come mid season. From memory Ken Sheldon was involved there.
Following that has only really coached low division footy.

Also rumours are he contacts a lot of players from his previous clubs once he decides his leaving. Not sure that behaviour is taken well..

Hopefully his learnt things and improved his ways!

A leopard never changes it’s spots turbo , a good result for romsey will be he see’s out the year with minimal carnage along the way
