We all know that the run from rds 7 - 13 are probably not only what will give us an indication as to how we sit in terms of competitiveness, but also where we'll finish on the ladder at the end of the season.

How about some predictions as to how the next 7 rounds will turn out for us. We're 3-3 now. Will we be 3-10, or 10-3, or somewhere in between?

These are my predictions:

Rd7 - WCE @ Skilled W
Rd8 - Freo @ Skilled W
Rd9 - Port @ AAMI L
Rd10 - Saints @ Telstra W
Rd11 - Crows @ AAMI L
Rd12 - Lions @ Skilled W
Rd13 - Swans @ Skilled W

That makes us 8-5 after 13 rounds. Probably close to top4, but in top6 at least.
While we face some strong teams, most of them are at grounds we should win on (i.e. Skilled or Telstra). There is also a possibility that we can win one of the AAMI ones, which would be even better.

What are your predictions? We can then revisit after rd13 to see how we all went.:thumbsu:

7 wins - sitting 2nd on the ladder at the end of it.

Bartel brownlow favourite
Selwood nab rising star favourite
cats premiership favourite
playfair still struggling in the VFL

These are my predictions:

Rd7 - WCE @ Skilled W
Rd8 - Freo @ Skilled W
Rd9 - Port @ AAMI L
Rd10 - Saints @ Telstra L
Rd11 - Crows @ AAMI L
Rd12 - Lions @ Skilled W
Rd13 - Swans @ Skilled W

We'll be sitting 7-6 with the remaining rounds to indicate if we actually have a shot at the 8. I think we'll just scrape into the 8 finished with 12ish wins and between 6-8 on the ladder.

Rd7 - WCE @ Skilled W - have changed my prediction since Cox is out, though if playfair plays I might have to change it back again. :D

Rd8 - Freo @ Skilled W - this is a tough one - they seem to play OK down at Skilled, Tarrant usually towelled us up when with the Pies. They have a potentially potent forward line. Hopefully Harley is in and Egan/Scarlett do not get an injury by then.

Rd9 - Port @ AAMI L - Our bogey ground. Close game as per usual, but still a loss

Rd10 - Saints @ Telstra W - Depends which saints team turns up. Love playing them, love beating them, Geelong's new "adversary". always going to be a toss of the coin because of recent history

Rd11 - Crows @ AAMI W - Adelaide, I think, are beginning to be worked out. They are not "on" like they have been in the past, and this will be a good chance to beat them over there.

Rd12 - Lions @ Skilled W - Their swag of young uns will begin to tire. A good cold, wet day at skilled would be great.

Rd13 - Swans @ Skilled L - they will play behind the ball and we will get overly frustrated and boot 9.25 to their 14.2. Will be a frustrating day. But a good lesson nonetheless in staying composed and not holding up the ball for a minute at a time. As long as we learn from it that is.

Who knows?
We're capable of beating everyone but we're capable of losing to everyone...
Playing at AAMI 2 out of 3 weeks will be an advantage i think, will get them used to the ground especially, if we win against Port...
I think 4 W's and 3 L's is aqcceptable, 5 - 2 would be good and to lose one or none out of the 7 would be great... I have a feeling they'll do good! But to be taken seriously as a top team we have to come out of it winning more than we've lost...

All games will be impacted by injuries and weather – bar the St. Kilda game, so it’s impossible to make an accurate forecast. If we manage to sustain a healthy list and Chappy/Rooke//Hunt/King/Harley are fit and available for selection, life will be a lot easier.

Rd7 - WCE @ Skilled W
We should nock them off. Blake and Ottens (both in great form in the ruck) will be way too much for Seaby to handle. It will be a fantastic battle in the midfield although we have the slight advantage of a better forward line so even if Judd and Kerr get first possession more than us, we should still be able to make more of our opportunities going forward.

The recent debacle regarding West Coast’s number of free kicks plays in our favor as the umpires are likely to be frugal with the number of frees dished out.

The cats have to win at home – Want revenge for last year - West Coast is due for a loss – Cats by 25 in a thriller.

Rd8 - Freo @ Skilled W

Freo are overrated. Cats by a significant margin at home.

Rd9 - Port @ AAMI L
This game will undoubtedly be a great battle down at AAMI. After subsequent wins, the cats might struggle mentally unfortunately. Although having Chappy back will help in a close, low scoring game.

Rd10 - Saints @ Telstra W
Battle of the key forwards – Saints will have key players back but I think at the Dome Hawkins, Nathan and Mooney will be unstoppable.

Rd11 - Crows @ AAMI W
Rd12 - Lions @ Skilled W
Rd13 - Swans @ Skilled W

Too far away to tell – should beat Lions and Swans at home (particularly with Rooke back) but the Crows will be tough.

We better win the two Adelaide games. I'm travelling to see both of them, and they're the only live games I get to see for the year.

You do better than I, last live game I saw was 1992 when Abblett dominated the eagles from CHB and grabbed 30 possesions.

Cant get a ticket to subiaco for love nor money now. And they cost 50 bucks. So stop whinging about ticket prices victorians!!!!

Geelong Fans and their predictions....

this is how all matches will be for round 7-13

Might Win/Might Lose...

[/thread over]

You could say that about every team and every game.
The point of the thread was to see if anyone wanted to have stab at how they would go. Nothing wrong with having a guess...

I think it all hinges on this weeks game. If we beat the Eagles at home then that will give the lads a lot of confidence which could take them into the next 5 weeks with a 3/2 type of result. If we lose this week, or even worse get a hammering then we could slip right out of contention. The team is at the cross roads this week and we will see if their is any leadership at the club once and for all.

Good call. Definitely a huge game this week...

hmmm...the "next 11 games will decide.." or this one??? tough call.

i'll have to go with this one considering more than half of this "hard" run is played @home.

what's next? rds 14 - 22 The Easy Run?

i hope we play the hawks & roos again so we can pencil in the "W".

The reason I titled the thread "The Hard Run" was because at the beginning of the season, that's what we all acknowledged rounds 7-13 to be. Sure, things are turning out a little different (Adelaide aren't travelling so well, and Freo look very beatable, and we are playing the toughest teams at home), but these are the rounds that will very much shape where we end up.
As someone else said, if we manage 4-3, 5-2, 6-1 or 7-0 our of the next 7 rounds, we could be realistically thinking top 4. Confidence will be up, and some of that damaging self-doubt will begin to erase.
If we go 3-4 or worse, then we just won't have the momentum or confidence to get over sides like Hawks and Roos.

nah.

why end it at rd13?

what bout losing most of those games but then going undefeated, 14 -22, heading into the finals? what about if roos & hawks make top 4 then those supposed "easy" runs where we lost don't look so bad.

what if we won all or all but one then went on a losing streak? so that, in fact, was the "hard run"?

i reckon at the end of @19 weeks we will know where we are at. sorry, i should stay out of these freds, counting chickens has never been a strong point.

cats fans, especially, should know better.

we will slap the hawks and roos silly just like ole times, guaranteed wins....hahahahahaha

great call, no need to add anything.

Hope you enjoy being yelled at by feral bogans then. Make sure you park your car in a secure area as well ;)

when it comes down to it, its all about the passion the boys show. watching the saints v carlton game last friday, the blue boys started to make a comeback and w each goal kicked, they were ALL over each other. they were playing as a team, for each other.
as much a disgruntled geelong fan as anyone else, i loved sitting at the dome and watchin them pump a terrible, undermanned richmond (did anyone notice the height/size diff in the forwards, or when shane tuck contested ottens in the ruck??).
to be honest...who the f_ck knows wat will happen on sunday, or the week after or for the rest of the YEAR! to be honest, i predict the boys to finish top 4, biased opinion or not, but they need some passion as a playing group!
5 wins outta the next 7, losses to adelaide away and swans at home
as muc has it frustrates me sayin it: CARN THE CATS!!!:thumbsu:

Knowing Geelong, we'll win some really difficult games then just throw away the advantage, to be 6-7.
