Well for one thing I have used Gifs that happen to feature black people. Therefore some people are deeming me racist.

I don’t think it’s really grown legs just going off the posts here. Not sure anyone is actually going to change their behaviour or encourage others to do so, seems to just be people chatting.

Equally, let’s say that it has truly grown legs - it wouldn’t have done so if some outlet didn’t dredge it up to generate outrage clicks targeting the “look how stupid the other side of the aisle are” market. This isn’t a partisan thing, everyone does it, and all it does is lead to more fringe views that normally wouldn’t see the light of day getting amplified as everyone races to show off how their team is correct as proved by the latest insanity from the other team.

The original article literally says "Now, I'm not suggesting that white and nonblack people refrain from ever circulating a black person’s image for amusement or otherwise". It's saying people who disproportionately use over exaggerated gifs of black people are contributing to harmful stereotypes
