Maybe give Broome a miss if you're road tripping with your dog...

It was ok, I'm not a big fan of LOTR anyway so I wasn't that invested in it to begin with. It looked pretty but the writing wasn't good.
Definitely not worth anywhere near what they spent on it.

Peter Jackson's trilogy was perfect.

Amazon are kents.
I've never read the source material but the main issues I had were the prevalence of deus ex machinas (the Eagles, an undefeatable ghost army etc.) And gee that last film has about 10 endings and you just want it to be over. Cutting the death scene of the secondary antagonist was a very weird choice too.

I reckon they're really great films but nowhere near GOAT/top 10 status as some people say.

They're great, but all the scenery, effects and bling distracts from how terrible the acting really is.

I guess that's not really the why people watch it though. Unlike episode 1-3 of Star Wars where it sucked altogether.

I've literally never watched anything LOTR

I tried to read the Hobbit in Year 7 but gave up after about 5 pages.

I mainly just wanted to call you a nerd.

The souvenir store episode of Nathan For You was outstanding.

I tried to watch LOTR on the flight home from NZ after going to Hobbiton but couldn't get into it. Abandoned it after half an hour or so. It's not my type of movie but the place itself was great.

The first ten minutes of Fellowship is the best bit in the whole series.

So if you didn't enjoy that, you made the right call.

Disagree. Good scene, keen to visit Hobbiton one day, but prefer Helm's Deep, Faramir's suicidal cavalry charge, Theoden's speech and cavalry charge:

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Eorlingas!

And Aragorn rallying the Eagles men of the west:

A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

The Eagles! The Eagles are coming!

Hell yeah!

Should have used some of these lines instead of Friends, Family, Flags

Been watching the Rings of Power

It’s been a struggle

And I actually enjoyed LOTR

Didn’t get past the first of the hobbit trilogy though

The elves I find particularly unlikeable due to their snobbery/superiority complex
