Whenever my soccer-preferencing friends talk about why soccer is better than Aussie rules (always unprompted) they start by going on about how much the players get paid so I assume it's something inherent in the sport that brings that out, along with liking flares and physically attacking referees.

re: Tim Cahill’s role within Qatar Football, it appears his official title is ‘technical director’, so I guess it makes sense for him to celebrate if he’s involved in the sporting side of it.

Still feels wrong seeing our greatest ever player cheering on another country at a tournament we were in though.
