Realistically, where do we all think the Hawks will finish in 2010?

I am expecting a very good season , dare I say perhaps a devastating season.
My reason is simple, the feel is like 2007/2008 its a mind set .I don't think Croady will play, is that a forgone conclusion ? We have recruited well as you all know.Injuries and an unfortunate crap 2009 will bring players back to the knowledge that the capabilities are there and never left just didn't use them, full pre seasons are on the cards for most.
Wasn't us last year .We would want to finish in top four surely. There is no reason not to.

Depth is thin. Will win a lot of games when you can put something approaching your 22 on the park, but the really good sides - Saints, Cats, Bombers ;) - have worked out how to beat you. Best of the rest. Could push for a flag if things fall right. I think Hawks into the 4, Dogs drop off, Blues drop off.

This is just the sort of simplistic thinking that Bigfooty thrives on.

Some people think that matches aren't played and decided by human interaction on the field, they are organised by guys with metallic name plates and whiteboards.

The same people who will tell you Hawthorn didn't win the flag, 'the zone' did.

(Notwithstanding that St Kilda did the same thing, but that's completely different apparently...they are a great team...but I digress)

When you play Hawthorn, you're not playing a team of 22 human beings, you're merely playing a system, and as soon as the code is cracked, it's all over. Bingo. Just like that.

People who think like this are either accountants, Pokemon players, simpletons or all three

You're forgetting one thing, Eldorado: the asinine and specious term 'Bradbury'.

Born from profound stupidity, some simple folk seem to think it's clever, and in their flat world it's assumed the status of the Uber insult.

Go figure that one out.... And then Geelong flogs calling us the Bradbury Premiers, that says worse things about their team than it does ours.

I like to think that Slattery's tongue is somewhere near his cheek, though.

I hope so, although that is a polite way of saying the T word, isn't it?

The caveat to this is when (or if) Burgoyne, Bailey & Croad make a return to our top team. If Burgoyne can get a mini pre season in & is up & firing around Anzac Day that will make a difference. Schoenmakers is a key player for us. Without Croad, he'll be one of most relied on defenders. Gibson & Gilham give us greater stability, but if Schoenmakers has a break out season, we can really give the other teams a scare. Croad's return is vital. It straightens up our defence & can give us greater variety elsewhere. We can even run him up forward to really put the pressure on defences such as Carlton or Essendon.
Our depth isn't as thin as others think. Kayler-Thomson, Stratton & Hooper are ready to go, our rookie list has experience on it & from the ashes of last year, the form of our mid list players could be assessed. The experience they gained last year will be vital to bring home our 11th premiership in 2011.
