In years past, watching finals series I see one or two teams who I think we wouldn’t have a hope of beating. From a talent, game plan or mentality pov.

Watching this year, I am confident we could beat any of these sides on Grand Final day.

Brisbane's victory gives me a lot of optimism for the direction of the club. Had Sydney won it would have shown midfield primacy rules above all else, but Brisbane has a far more balanced side, which is what we are building.

Some time after the bye when were top 3 and brisbane and hawks and bulldogs not in 8 yet some one from fox footy or 7 tweeted with a graph of premiership window. Points for in Y axis and points against in X axis and premiership window as a square box on right hand top corner.The box means both X and Y values are maximum. If my memory is correct Brisbane was the closest to the middle of the box and Sydney Dogs and hawks were just inside the box. We were higher than those teams in X axis but was out of the box due to Y Axis which is points for. Also need to remember were bottom 4 for ground ball gets in forward 50.
Bolton is a surety and must use the other first rounder whether 10 or 16 on good pressure small forward like Berry or Hannaford?
Can argue we already have small forwards but we are bottom 4 in most of the F50 stats.
If we fix that we will be right in the box of that graph and may be better than brisbane?

He is a good player but would cost us a heap and doesn't want to play for Freo.

Bolton does and if Baker moved to Freo we would probably have zero chance of Pickett or Warner. They may not come but I'd say they would be better for the team.

Yeah, I was pleased, especially at the rumoured price.

Now to focus on Bolton and see if we can get Pickett. A ridiculous position to be in that only getting Bolton still leaves us with some great picks to take to the draft.

Champagne regardless, this is the optimism thread and Bolton gets us closer to a flag than the drop from 11 to 14.

Now you are here, get around the fact that we just traded in one of the most dangerous small forwards in the comp. Oh and he can run through the middle as good as most teams 3rd best mid. Yeaaaaaaaah

If Richmond is paying a chunk of Boltons salary the Bolton trade is a terrific one for Freo. Meanwhile the WC trade has the potential to be one of the worst in afl history.

This is it, if JLo can't get Freo into the top 4 in 2025 he should be facing some serious questions about why not.

Apart from the addition of Bolton there should be some reasonable improvement in many of our players aged under 25. Fyfe, Walters, JOM and Aish should be pushed out of the team by younger players. Longmuir needs to improve his coaching to address our slow starts and recent poor record in closing out close games. The players are there so over to you now JLo.

Agre - with natural improvement of our existing squad we should have finished at worst fifth on percentage. Now we should be locked in the top four. If we don't play a prelim he needs to be looked at.

First trade period in a longggg time, I think since 2015, where we didn’t have a player request a trade.

AND we added a star in Bolton who fills our greatest need and will immediately make us a better team in 2025, whilst keeping a first rounder for the draft.
