They have won a crazy number of close games. It's been shown before that things usually average out and they will start losing them in the future. For now, I just find it hilarious and hope they keep Freo's top 4 spot.
I can see them channelling their 2002 and arseing an 'away' win in week 1 and getting to host a prelim.

This might be controversial, but I think a fluke Pies flag this year might be good for the league. It will put focus on senior coaches actually performing, rather than hiding behind rebuilds or making up the numbers in finals. Would also show how backing youth and changing up gameplans to lead to rapid results. 2nd last to first in one season would be a mighty achievement.

I hate to be that guy, but Collingwood are the worst 13-5 team I've ever seen.

There’s a lot of luck involved in winning so many close games. Eventually it’ll run out

I am shocked and appalled.

You know that thing everyone said would happen as soon as the medisub rule was announced. Well it happened in the first week after it was introduced and rather than squash it there and then, the AFL did it’s usual nothing to see here dance

Clubs don’t give a shit as they’ll bend whatever rules they can if they think it’ll help them win

At least in 2002 they did actually beat Port in Adelaide as a genuine away game. As the ladder currently stands they’ll get a Richmond style away game against Geelong at the MCG

It shouldn’t have been a free at first, because he did the drop and arm lift he does every time he gets near it. I’m fine with it being a free afterwards, because Redman held him in a headlock for ages and, whilst very funny, should ultimately have been a whistle.
AFL have come out and confirmed the above. Non call on the tackle correct, Redman should have been penalised for the headlock.

Imagine how much better the AFL would be if they just let this board run the show.

Boo Freo yes yes I know, but this is very cool. Mundy’s a good sort, will be a great addition to our coaching staff one day.

That's changing jumpers more often than Italy changes governments, and that's saying something!

And yes, Mundy does come across as one of the good guys. Remarkable that despite being there so long he still maintains status as a human being. He certainly doesn't come across as an absolute bell-end like many, or bitter and twisted like Pav for example.

I'd have him as an assistant coach.

Good on them for giving it a shot but they were mad if they didn't consider pushback from some of their players was a possibility. Folau is not an outlier in rugby.

Happy enough to get tattoos and play in a mixed fabric guernsey with a gambling sponsor on the front in a stadium sponsored by an alcohol brand though.

It’s the beauty of free speech though. Everyone is allowed their view without the government stepping in, and equally everyone can be judged for how hypocritical it is to claim religious exemption on one hand and ignore several other elements of your religious doctrine on the other.

He has been on that wagon for the past week on tv and radio. He cant get anyone to come along for the ride with him though.

I'd just trade these campaigners. "Hey, you're free to think whatever you want and we are free to not renew your contract. It's not what you think that is getting you fired, it's you're inability to STFU and deal with the fact that the club supports equality.".

It's 7 players (out of a list size of 30 - so about a quarter of the squad). As I said, there are a lot of conservative religious rugby players. They'd be ruling out a lot of potential replacements and probably alienate players on the fence. Not that easy.

If this issue cripples the NRL I wouldn't be complaining.

I don't agree with their view, but this does raise an interesting point about Sport endlessly pushing social agendas. Those guys signed up to play Rugby, not to promote social causes. They should be allowed an out if it is something they don't want to get behind.
