They can sit out, nobody can force them to play I wouldn’t have thought. Equally, nobody can force people to not say it’s an embarrassing look from a pack of homophobes. People get around military round, people get around leagues selling off their jerseys to Marvel and the Looney Tunes, but make it about pride and suddenly it’s “don’t use sport for social agendas”.I don't agree with their view, but this does raise an interesting point about Sport endlessly pushing social agendas. Those guys signed up to play Rugby, not to promote social causes. They should be allowed an out if it is something they don't want to get behind.
Their regular guernsey violates the bible in more ways than having some rainbow stripes does. A one off guernsey that means very little to most of their audience but would mean everything to a certain % of them, and that’s a bridge to far?
Nah. Sit out lads, your call, but if people want to tee off on them then also so be it.
I’m not a rugby person by any stretch, but seems particularly pointed in this case as Manly have a club legend who has since come out as gay and is vocally disappointed by this reaction.
