The first game of 'australian rules football' a year before melbourne was formed was merely a variation of rugby, there were even 40 players per team on feild.

Tom Willis, Melbourne's first president formed us and then wrote the first rules to our game.

Wrong. They're the ninth-oldest club still in existence, the seventeenth-oldest ever, and they definitely did not invent Australian football. In fact, if the game played today was fundamentally the same as the game played 150 years ago, I'd be extremely surprised.
