Build a stadium on alcatraz with bridges serving both San Fran and Oakland

Treasure Island would make sense...halfway along the Bay Bridge :thumbsu:

Also saw somewhere that the Buccs could move to London.
Greater chances with Manchester.
Glazer can cut back on stadium hire of Wembley, and only sacrific 10k seats or something.

Isn't there whispers going around that Old Trafford is expanding to 90,000?

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

Dont know. I'm more interested in the construction of Moston Community Stadium.
Should find out within the next 3 weeks if it'll go ahead.

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

Just move Jags to LA imo.

Better to disrupt the less established divisions such as the NFC West, NFC South and AFC South.

Jacksonville becomes Los Angeles, move to NFC West
St. Louis to NFC South
Tampa Bay to AFC South

The Jaguars become the new Southern California NFC side to complement San Diego in the AFC.

St. Louis joins old divisional rivals (old NFC West) Atlanta, New Orleans and Carolina in the NFC South.

Tampa Bay goes back to the AFC (where it spent its expansion season in 1976) and the AFC South still keeps a side from northern Florida.

Love that idea

Winner!!

Only need for that lease to run out in Jacksonville for shit to get popping.

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-11-29/nfl-s-jaguars-to-be-sold-to-khan-remain-in-jacksonville.html

Wayne Weaver has sold the Jacksonville Jaguars for $760 Million to Shahid Khan, who will keep the team in Jacksonville. He's going to buy a house and property in Jacksonville as well. Weaver apparently rejected many offers/calls from people trying to move the team to Los Angeles.

So the Rams last year were purchased by local Missourian Stan Kroenke, the Jaguars are staying put, and the Bills are looking into $100 Million+ in renovations to their stadium, like the Chiefs and Packers did recently. If those get approved next year, they'll sign a new lease for at least 10 years which will take them of the LA wish list.

The list of teams that could move to Los Angeles keeps shrinking. The Raiders, Chargers, and Vikings are all that's left.

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

I also don't think the Buccaneers will end up in London.

If/when the Jaguars move to LA, they wont want to see only 1 florida team left. two is ideal.

London is decades away. They'll want 2 LA teams first and a Canadian team, perhaps a Mexican team, before London happens.

It would seem to make sense, Buccaneers to London given Glazer and borrowing off the fanbase of the Red Devils, but it wont happen.

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

If I were Raiders owner, and I know this would fly in the face of all Raiders fans, but I'd do is this...

Rename the team Death Valley Raiders
Setting up base therefore in Fresno (which is geographically in the middle of the Bay Area and LA)
Market myself as the team for all California (much to the chagrin of the Chargers/Niners)
Of 8 home games, play 6 in Oakland, 2 in LA, and make a deal with the NFL to play another 4 away games in LA, where the 'home' team gets a better cut etc. All this during that process where there might be only one full-time team in LA (Jags) or no full-time teams in LA for many years, a way to bring NFL to LA thru those away games.

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

Why would the Raiders move back to LA?

From what i have heard, LA fans are much like fans in NSW. More theatre/event goers rather than team supporters, which is why the perpetually successful Lakers work.
The Raiders/Vikes wouldn't really fit that bill. Maybe SD with Rivers leading a high scoring air attack under a new coach and being regular playoff contenders.

I don't know why people obsess over it. Much like NSW, it appears like a huge market, but really, it's not. The amount of every week type fans just aren't there.

Re: L.A., Relocations, & League Expansion

Would it mean a change to NFC West and NFC North? Rams and Vikings switching?

Given that the divisions arent exactly geographically perfect at the moment that might not be necessary.

Even if Jacksonville left they would probably stay in the AFC South rather then have to break up one of the big rivalry teams in the AFC West by moving Kansas City to the South to play the Colts and co.

Big week in Jacksonville, but Blaine Gabbert still sucks so at least something is staying normal.

PFT weighs in...

If Jags Move, It Could be to St Louis

For those of you who are as willing to blindly believe right now that the Jaguars won’t move as you were willing to blindly believe Wayne Weaver when he said earlier this month that he isn’t selling the team, save yourself the aggravation and scroll past this story.

For those of you who are willing to be skeptical of an industry that has generated ongoing proof of the value of skepticism, read on.

If the Jaguars move, it may not be a foregone conclusion that they move to Los Angeles. There’s a chance they’ll move to St. Louis, with the Rams returning to L.A.

As one executive with a team other than the Jaguars told PFT on Wednesday morning, “People that I trust think there is a chance [Rams owner] Stan Kroenke moves the Rams to L.A. and [Shahid] Khan moves to St. Louis.”

At this point, no one knows with certainty what will happen. But it would be foolish to rule out anything, even if folks with a vested interest in propping up ticket sales and interest in the team in Jacksonville try desperately to ignore the content of the tea leaves.

Once the minimum spending requirement per team kicks in come 2013, teams like the Jaguars won’t be able to stockpile $32.9 million in salary cap space. When that happens, there will be more incentive than ever to move NFL teams to where the money is.

Folks in the one percent didn’t get there by being too stupid to realize that.
