Re: Los Angeles

For what it is worth, there are 3 teams already in the state, so they are well looked after quite near by.

A lot of people from LA are from out of town as well, many of the locals aren't exactly loaded, so it is always hard for a team to get the amount of $$ required to run, particularly without a history in the city to build on.

Re: Los Angeles

There's also a passionate NFL supporter base in LA that WOULD see a long-term LA team remain there and well-supported. The Raiders going back there would be the most successful LA version tho because the biggest supported team in LA is clearly the Raiders still. Even tho the Rams were there for 50 years. Even tho there are many out of towners who live there following other teams. It's kinda like the Gold Coast in that sense. There are very big sports bars in LA dedicated to fans of other teams. So it's a bit of a tricky populace to place an NFL team in due to all that.

Not like say Green Bay, where the whole region is nothing but Packers fans. But it's the second biggest city in the US, and therefore should be enough diehard NFL fans who'd loyally support long-term an NFL team there, have 50+ thousand fans per game. Just the stadium needs to be done right. Cant play in the Coliseum.

I agree that it will work as long as a few important things are done right. I think the Raiders or Chargers moving there might work, but I don't like the idea of the Vikings moving there. The Stadium being done right is a must as well

Re: Los Angeles

I have heard that. It always seems to come through as an urban myth though. Any chance of telling how you 'know' ?

I'm a notre dame fan, my pure hatred for that USC filth makes me believe all those unverified rumours.

Have a read of some of the stuff Jason Cole has written on Yahoo about Reggie Bush and it's pretty clear it aint colleges paying college athletes.

One of the by-products of not having an NFL team in LA is the marketing contracts available to USC alumni in that market. The NFL uses them too selling the game to that market. Reggie Bush wouldn't get half the endorsements he gets if he came from any other college.

Re: Los Angeles

Looks like its in the works;

Voters approve bond on proposed SoCal stadium site

INDUSTRY, Calif. (AP)—Voters approved a bond measure Tuesday that would provide $150 million for infrastructure improvements at a 600-acre site near Los Angeles where a stadium has been proposed to lure an NFL team.
Voters in Industry, a tiny town about 15 miles east of Los Angeles, passed the measure 60-1, though city officials have yet to certify the plan.
The results support a proposal by billionaire developer Ed Roski’s Majestic Real Estate Co. to build an $800 million stadium if an NFL team agrees to move there.
Industry is hosting the latest in a long string of plans to bring an NFL team back to Los Angeles after the Rams and Raiders exited the nation’s second-biggest market after the 1994 season.

Re: Los Angeles

I think the Jaguars are strong candidates to make such a move.

I think Vikings and Jaguars are the two most likely targets. Oakland and San Diego are loong shots but arnt out of the argument

Buffalo has a shot as well. I cant see any other team with a shot of moving the LA.

Im fairly certain Buffalo's owner has said that he won't move the Bills as long as he's alive. However, when he is getting old and when he goes the franchise is going to be sold to the highest bidder. Toronto is most likely for them

Haven't the Bills been there since forever? I can't really see a team with that much history moving any time soon.

Re: Los Angeles

NOOOOOOO , Keep the Vikings where they are , LA has already Taken one of our teams (Minneappolis Lakers) , they ain't taking another. you will lose a wealth of history if the vikings are moved with the Chicago and Green Bay Rivalry as strong as ever.

HELL NO WE WON'T GO !!!!!!!!!

Re: Los Angeles

anyway teams that go to LA never survive because they never get the support needed , and the LA people will only come if it's a winning Franchise , they don't like to be seen as losers , it's seen as unfashionable and we all know LA has to be Hot property for people to care , why do you think all the other teams that have played out of there have all eventually moved (Raiders , Rams and Chargers) , because no one cared.

Yeah for their whole existence they have been in Bufalo. Besides their owner Ralph Wilson is one of those typical NFL owners who has plenty of money and doesn't particularly mind that they arent profitable, for some owning a team is like a hobby. But apparently it will change when he passes on. However its a huge change if they up and move to the West Coast. But they already have a foothold in Toronto, playing a game a year there now, and it isn't so far away

Re: Los Angeles

just name any team that moves there (Bar the Vikings) the Southern California Trojans , they will get instant support , unlikely they'll be allowed to use it but it's worth a try.

Spot on Rhyno.

City of mass distractions also. I don't mind LA as a living location but it's too much a circus city to embrace such a 're-located NFL team'. Perhaps a Supabah site still?

We've got one of those.

I see that the Vikings are the new proposed movers to LA, if a stadium gets built it'll be like The Trop. Used as a pawn to get taxpayers money, The White Sox did this by threatening to move out of Chi-town to Tampa unless they were allowed a new stadium.

Re: Los Angeles

Since the Saints are always mentioned as a candidate for relocation this is probably relevant here :

State close to Saints deal and Super Bowl bid?

Negotiators for the state of Louisiana say they are getting very close to a deal to keep the New Orleans Saints playing football in the Superdome for a long time. They are also laying the groundwork for a Super Bowl bid.

"We have high expectations and hopes that we can work out our negotiations with the Saints so we can go together and seek the Super Bowl," lead negotiator Ron Forman told WWL First News. "The meetings have been very, very positive."

The current Saints contract expires next year. Forman says they intend to close the new deal in the next few months so they can bid on a Super Bowl at the upcoming NFL owners meeting in the spring.

He says the plan is to "get that in place and then take that to the owners and say, 'It's time to get on a cycle with New Orleans being a destination again.' "

The next available Super Bowl is in 2013. New Orleans officials are so hopeful they will make a bid, that they have already begun putting the paperwork together.

history is worth cents in a competition that requires big $$$ to survive. Buffalo is too small a market. Once Ralph Wilson moves on, the city is going to struggle to keep the team IMO.

city needs a team to qualify to be a superbowl site, does it not?? its usually a reward to the city for coughing up the mullah to invest in its pro-football team. LA deserves none of it.

besides, the rose bowl aint a facility that can host the the big dance anymore.......lack of corporate facilities, still has bleachers behind the end zones, etc.
