Re: Los Angeles

history is worth cents in a competition that requires big $$$ to survive. Buffalo is too small a market. Once Ralph Wilson moves on, the city is going to struggle to keep the team IMO.
I think they have even openly said the team will be sold to the highest bidder after his death.

Kind of sad that it is only safe there when Wilson is alive.

Re: Los Angeles

A new recent article on this topic....

The team still enjoys strong support in the Southland, even though it clearly has lost its edge since its return to Oakland 14 years ago.

Do the Raiders still have a footprint in L.A., despite leaving 14 years ago?

Dickerson thinks they do, even if it's a relatively small and fading one.

"As bad as the Raiders have been -- and we're talking bad, like, nasty bad -- I have to give their fans their props," he said. "I've met so many guys in Los Angeles who have said, 'Hey, I know they're sorry, but I'm a fan.' I like that."

Dickerson, for one, feels the love.

"I'm not knocking Ram fans; I'll always be a Ram," he said. "But on the whole, there's a lot more Raider fans around L.A. . . . There's most definitely a Raider heartbeat in L.A."

Re: Los Angeles

Raiders are wasting their time in Oakland. They won't be the franchise they were until they go back to L.A.

They were from Oakland and relocated to LA and gave it away due to decreasing income. Do you not remember the fans celebrating re the 13 year road trip being over?

Oakland is a dead market, dead part of C.A. The A's & GSW are now non identies, a big part of that is it location.

If the Raiders moved to L.A, they would once again become a National brand.

LA wasn't interested in them last time. Why would they be this time?

Re: Los Angeles

Would be ok in my books. LA, LV, or OAK. Don't see it happening tho. LA there's much interest there for Al in terms of Roski's self-funded stadium, and the pre-existing larger Raider supporter base there. But the stadium deal itself in LA would not please Al, as Roski's plan comes with him receiving some sort of ownership share of the team.

Oakland seems likely to stay too. Al could've learned from the last relocation, how many Bay Area fans never forgave him for that and defected to the Niners. Crowds and ticket sales have been less on return to Oakland than when they were last there. But the original reason why Davis left is kinda the exact same situation he's facing now with the city once again refusing to budge on funding a new stadium.

The thing with the Bay Area is that it's definitely like a top 2 region for mad/passionate NFL support. Unlike SoCal which is more NCAA orientated. It's a die-hard devout region. The only problem is the municipalities up there have a lot of social and infrastructure problems and therefore are not inclined to spend a billion dollars on building a stadium. But at the same time they can ill-afford to lose teams from the Bay Area by not building them. It's a bit of a catch 22. The city has said it'll happily help renovate add some more seating etc, but not build a new one. But if the Raiders/Niners did build new ones there or a new one, it'd ultimately bring millions of money in when hosting a Superbowl in the future.

All up, it's a very tricky messy situation. The Raiders do want to stay there long-term, but at the same time the city aint helping.

Re: Los Angeles

The Las Vegas Raiders.

Good ring to it, no?

just think of the list of people they could get to sing the national anthem (assuming you could get them out of their casino shows) Mariah Carey, Wayne Newton, Bett Midler, Barry Manilow - the list is almost endless.

NFL in Las Vegas - NFW! The team owner could never afford the medical facilities bill for the season ticket holders....

Re: Los Angeles

Interesting development.
As was explained in an old article the Roski guy and the Chargers owner or president (not sure which) are close friends, and was rumored that the LA stadium deal might end up a Chargers thing.

But again, the LA market is not really Charger-friendly. If they moved to LA imo they'd be crazy. San Diego is a great place and the fans arent hard to come by either.

Re: Los Angeles

You guys, get USC off your mind. Los Angeles is big on them only because they lack the NFL. College football is not normally big in major metro areas. That school is just filling a void in the market right now. Once the NFL returns, Trojan games will once again be for mostly students and alumni.

Re: Los Angeles

I'm pretty sure the Vikes are stayin put, but I've heard the Rams are considering returning to LA. take it with a grain of salt, but don't act all shocked if that ends up happening.

Re: Los Angeles

Honestly, would love to see the Rams back in LA.
Half these St Louis Rams fans have no clue about team loyalty, they don't care for our future hall of famers or supporting the team. There is no passion in St Louis, no team loyalty, just a couple of die hard fans.

Let's move to the bigger market that want to try and keep a team
