Really enjoyed that. I didn't realise Lade didn't ruck all game, nor that he was ruled out during the week. Amazing how these stories lie under the surface.

Cant wait for the next one. Not going to let our current predicament take away from what is still one of the greatest days of my life. Just hope one day we get shit together again and get back there.

Punished myself by listening to the podcast of Bergman being interviewed yesterday by the world’s least insightful radio pairing of Dillon and Rucci. Bergman is a boring interviewee at all times. Says nothing of interest. But yesterday when asked if he had watched a replay of the 2004 GF, he admitted that he never had.

I just assumed these guys would have been made to watch, and would have wanted to watch, as a group full replays of our key moments in AFL and SANFL history. How else will they realise who they are playing for? I guess 5 min of Ginever on day 1 of their time at the club is all they need to know.

Appalling to think that these guys have never watched the SANFL GFs from the 80s-90s or at least 2004.

I tend to agree with you, how on earth haven't they watched the 2004 GF or the 2004 prelim or maybe highlights of the 1994 GF. But we probably forget how young these guys are.

They were barely born in 2004. And i know for me personally i love watching GF's from the 90's as this was my childhood and i was obsessed with footy back then but the 80's not so much as i was either too young or not around at all. I don't remember any of the players or anything from that era, so it doesn't interest me that much.

Perhaps if we won something prior to 20 years ago, the current players would've watched that history more. I'm sure they've all remember the drawn GF but maybe not so much Leo Barry you star.

I couldn't imagine joining a club and not watching their biggest ever day!

Madness.

Choco used to put all draftees through a full Port Adelaide induction process and made them write a paper on what they learned. Knowing Choc, probably fired test questions at them during training too. ;)

But really PJ, do you think Ken wants them to see players busting their boilers playing a brand of football they enjoyed to win an ultimate prize they've only heard about? That's the stuff of fairy tales. :D

Ok, who's the guy in the back in the black PA tee? I thought it was Lade maybe but guessing how much they talk about Lade and not to Lade, can't be

Gotta acknowledge Kane, he's got no issue putting his face in there, amongst people he's talked shit about. Maybe it's all professional and they can separate it from personal, maybe he thinks he's still cool as shit and everyone likes him, but he turns up to these things.

It's just part of being the opinionated guy I guess, you've gotta be comfortable standing in front of someone you've talked smack about. Having the connection of premiership teammate helps enormously in this instance.

A shame Dimma and Kingsley have other commitments.

Great to see Byron there. Sure he had a few stories off camera.

David King on his Monday segment with Whateley, talked about the 1999 premiership reunion for North players at the Collingwood game on Sunday.

He said - "Star of the show - Byron Pickett. I had a little chat with Byron. Just a quick little snippet. Byron did the coach ever give you the green light to go after one or two? Because I know Dennis did a couple of times."

"And Byron said yeah, I can remember 2. So I said, OK which one's were they? He said Choco Williams said hey today is the grand final. Everyone is on the table, and he said, so I did go for a few that day. In his own way."

Then - "That Daniher guy coaching at Melbourne, he told me I could get Ryan Crowley one day, and I said OK yeah."

"Then he went quiet. Then I said, did you? He says, what do you reckon?" Whateley and King laugh.

"Lit the room up. So Byron was the star of the show. A cracking day."

It's an indictment on the club that we dont create an environment where a Victorian kid wants to look into who they represent.
People are always gonna do the Powa Est 1997 thing but it hurts when we do that to ourselves.

That's not even a 'Powa Est 1997' issue, we won that flag in 2004. Weird that we have players who wouldn't have even seen the game.

Do any players walk into the front of the club and past the museum, maybe even stop to have a look? Nah, straight to the 'High Performance Centre' to give daddy a hug asap.
