Because its all down to execution and the cattle you have on the field?

A smart coach would base a game plan around the cattle they have at their disposal, rather than trying to copy everyone else and sustain something we don't appear to be capable of across a full season wouldn't they? We seem to be going all in on the press with no thought as to how we're going to kick a score (we don't have the leg speed or endurance to be getting out the back and it's not something you want to rely on anyway).

If one thing is to come out of this, it's you get an internal lesson and audit. You learn more about your list, it's needs, and which players are willing to fight on days like this and you use it to.improve.

Let's not forget Melbourne did a number on Richmond. Let's not forget our draw against Melbourne in 2010. This place went into meltdown, myself included. No we won't be the flag this year. But you can bet your ass we won't forget this and appropriate changes will be made to the list on the back of performances like this.

The truth is I gave up on the season after the Port game I would of appreciated Bucks tell me he had also.

It's what happens when players have no sense of direction and no idea what to do with the ball in hand.

AKA, no structure and a poor game plan.

You get the ball in defence and see a Melbourne press cutting off all your options then feel pressure and have to bomb it long... Other teams have structures to be able to work through it, not us.

You guys all suck and are fairweather fans.

Pretty easy to go with the holier-than-thou call from the cheap seats, but when we have a complete and utter failure in every aspect of the game (from selection to game plan to how we structure up to a lack of intensity from the players stepping out onto the field) and some of those failures have been an ongoing issue at times across the season then you need to start asking the hard questions.

To be honest 80-90% of football is above the shoulders and the vast majority of the "above the shoulders" aspect comes from the preparation of the playing group across the course of the season. There are many aspects of how we play that are clearly below-par even for an inexperienced playing group - as some others have said above often we look like we don't know what the hell we should be doing when we get the ball.

There are some non-negotiables for mine though and intensity is definitely one of them. Unfortunately it's something we let slip (or don't run out with in the first place) on a far too regular a basis to expect any level of success, regardless of what sort of talent we may or may not have on our list.

Have not understood the urgency people have had all year not to play him when there was no better alternative.

I only.just finished playing myself. But I'm gonna assume that all the people saying drop White all have egg on their face as Moore had no support and not ready to be the number one.

Brings me to the next point, I assume it's also common knowledge that we play our best footy with ONE of witts and Grundy in the side. Not both.

And I'll assume fasolo did nothing and Seedsman was even worse.

Fasolo and Varcoe were the two rare positives today. I have no idea why people are so harsh on Fas. He works his arse off to pressure and tackle with desperation. Even when he's not kicking goals he's working hard and unlike so many others at Collingwood, his tackles actually stick. I'd take him over Jarryd Blair every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Varcoe is the same, he tackles with intent and is brilliant at the contest. He's also got leg speed and can burst from the contest, which is something this team lacks. I'd like to see him as a full time mid as he's clearly demonstrated that he's got the hardness and ability to impact the contest more than most players at the club.

Yet here I am still going week after week when in Melbourne and occasionally interstate. What can you do, its in my blood.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Fasolo has been criticised even this year about lack of effort and quite honestly it just isn't warranted. People are always looking at him to be dropped while on the other hand praising Blair because he tries hard as if that's a reason for him to remain in the team.

Fas wasn't fit due to missing a tone of Footy over the last couple of seasons, lack of work rate has always been and is a myth.
The only thing he needed to fix was being more team orientated which he has now.
