So they've basically just promoted from within, kept Jackson making decisions for the coming draft even though he is a proven failure and made no comment on hardwicks performance.

Sorry but that's underwhelming to say the least.

Balme has fallen into our lap due to Collingwood mistreating him. That's the only win and it isn't of our own making

As its been covered many times over. Jackson is sticking around to see out this years draft simply because you dont sack a recruiter a few months out from the draft. No doubt he will be taking the new guy through everything in thos time. I understand the hate for jackson but its stupid to expect him gone before the current draft wjen its been worked on for a long time

Garbage. Anyone that steps into the role would be across the current player landscape or they wouldn't be suitable in the first place. Now you've got a guy that's failed when he was completely invested in the position, making the decisions after basically being told by the club he is no good in the role.

I'd much rather role the dice with the new guys calls than go with a bloke that we've already decided isn't up to the task

Balme is a great addition. :thumbsu:

Not sure on the recruiting changes but at least Francis isn't in charge anymore.
Basically this.....

I highly doubt FJ has the final say for this draft. The way i read it more is the RFC letting him go out on his terms, showing respect for a long standing employee of the club.

Basically Clarke will have final say on this years draftees and FJ will get to call out their names for one last time.

Personally reckon Casino is head recruiter in name for this draft now. Think Clarke will have the final say as he is big banana going fwd. Just reading bt the lines.

Ha!! Beat me by a minute:thumbsu:

That sum of money may seem a lot but he and his family can't retire on it.
IMO he would know that Richmond coaches often eat shit and die.
Don't think he wants to join their ranks.
Needs success to secure his own future.

His family can't retire on 9 X 500k+ and his money earned as an assistant and during his playing career?

I'm hoping sarcasm, most people could retire immediately on 1.5-3 million

Don't underestimate how hard the AFL were gunning for Balme to go up to Brisbane.
We acted swiftly and with purpose.
Some credit to the club on this from me.

So where is the " review"?

Will we ever get to see even snippets of it?

Judging by the media release the review told us to switch personnel because we recruited them for the wrong positions lol

Neil Balme is best thing to happen to us in a very long time...but it's unlikely his appointment was not a result of the review

..now.bring on round 9 of the 2017 season

Happy enough with the changes announced today. Can't go in and blow the joint apart completely. Balme now heads the Football Department, Discount Dan can do what he does best and that is contracts, which hopefully means we don't get torn a new one anytime soon by paying overs for anyone. A new head recruiter, albeit an internal promotion, hopefully means a new direction/focus on draftees, maybe we start getting kids that have a bit of mongrel and size about them, hopefully the new fitness staff will see players actually developing size and those that get injured getting back on the park a little quicker than usual. Some fresh ideas in the coaches box should also help in a change of game plan.

Give Balme 12 months or so to have a look at other areas that may not have been seen as needing a shake up and I'd expect there will be some more changes made. Remember everything that the footy department does is covered by a soft cap so we don't want to go making wholesale changes to the entire department. Make what is essential and see what happens in 2017 then go again. As the old saying goes, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

Gale first spoke to Balme back in Round 22, how do you know Balmey hadn't long before the pies mistreated him? Also, listen to Benny on 3AW, says a bit about the review of Dimma - http://www.3aw.com.au/news/neil-bal...-of-football-at-richmond-20160912-greeiw.html
