He was good when he got it, tried hard, but does need to get it more.
No-one carves out an AFL career getting that much of the ball.
Averages only 1.8 possessions less a game than Cyril Rioli....

Obviously depends on the quality of the possession & disposal that determines how an AFL career is carved

Just finished watching the replay. Great intensity today, really raised our defensive game this week.

Geary was epic today, having a great season. Weller and Members turning out to be absolute guns. I hope Richo gives Sinclair and extended run at it, clearly a best 22 player.

Still really want Lonie back in the side, was a bit stiff to get dropped after just 1 game back in. Wouldnt mind Wright for Lonie next week.

Next week will be interesting, we go in with no pressure after a good win, and no expectation. That is when we can be a dangerous outfit.

And no ones AFL career after 20 games and 20 years of age is set in stone, he has heaps of up side, imo

Dunstan had a ripping 1st qtr for mine and kept us in it. Stellar qtr. Dropped off after that but came good in the 4th

Acres best signs I've seen from him. Started to use his size and take the game on. Needs to do that more and not do a stanley.

Geary is captain material

Bruce and armo are completely different players to last year :-(

Hickey immense. How good is it to have a decent ruck again
You're praising Dunstan :eek:o_O

Let me go outside and see if pigs are flying as well ;)

Just wanted to say, as weird as it sounds, that those non-holding the ball calls in the second quarter (especially the ones in our forward line) may have strangely worked in our favour as the pro-Saints crowd got well and truly involved after those.

When we kicked a couple of goals shortly after the crowd was right into it, I think partly sticking it up the umps, and may have energised the players. (At least that's what I like to think. :D)

Spot on, we were embarrassingly quiet as supporters until that point.

Then after a series of umpiring mishaps the collective voice rose and sparked the troops into action.

Hopefully with some success in the next few years we start to have a regularly vocal supporter base.

I suppose it's a funny story, but I had two cop cars pull up a few years ago, probably thinking there was some mortal violence going on inside. In reality it was me watching a Saints game on TV. A little bit embarrassing to say the least, my missus was laughing her head off.

On the umps it's getting to the point where you think we need to put a video of the 10-15 really bad calls we are getting almost every week but i doubt they would listen
There were some absolute stinkers against us as well watching repay 10min into the 3rd and Geary got one against him because a player tried to put a bump into him 20 meters from the ball and came off second best

Nathan Jones has played the Saints 15 times now.
Won his first game, lost the next 14 poor bastard.

Really positive, today excluding first quarter. Defence held up reasonably well even though we were undersized.
Still reckon we lack midfield depth only 5 players recording 20 or more touches including Hickey.

-Membrey would almost be the most improved player in the comp.
-Hickey got the better of Gawn

I don't know whats up with Armo and Bruce they haven't been in their 2015 form which we would really like.

And I can't believe I heard David King say last week out of the teams outside the 8 and you're a free agent you would want to go to Melbourne over STK.

Savage, Templeton, Lonie, McCartin (hopefully) should all throw their names up for selection against the dogs next week, also the package looks unlikely to play which helps our defence out a bit. I think Minchington, McKenzie, Wright, Acres could be nervous this week come selection.

Huge game next week hopefully they bring that level of intensity and lets knock off another top four team. Go Saints.

Funny thing, I was watching the Essendon game at the pub the other week, and King was there cheering for the Saints like a maniac. I looked over, thought "Is that David King?", saw how heavily he was barracking, and thought probably not. Friend came back from the bathroom, I asked, he confirmed that it was. Maybe he has a secret soft spot, or had a bet on...

David King is never right so I wouldn't even bother listening to his tripe

Absolutely agree.
However, some of the trash that flows out of his mouth is joke. My personal favourite "St Kilda won't win a game in 2015."
My fave: "StKilda would be hoping Parish doesn't have a great career, because when he becomes a star they'll be saying that's what we gave up (in this Carlisle trade)"

Special mention to Jack Newnes

That spoil in the last on Gawn on the Melbourne forward flank

Literally giving away a foot of height & still managed a spoil & Saints possession

That was right in front of me and it was Gawn's mark all the way but I could see the determination in Jack N's eyes and he effected a great spoil.

That is the 5th game we've won this year where the bookies had us as underdogs...

Every time we've played a team perceived to be in the same rebuild window as us, we've gone in as underdogs and smashed em. Pies, Dees, Blues, Dees. Yet all they talked about today was the Dees' bright future (as was the case with those other games). Now I know how Bomber Thompson felt in 2003 when no one was talking about Geelong.
