FFS Watson and Matthews carrying on about Melbourne's Darwin trip. They had an 8 day break FFS
didn't seem to hurt Port Adelaide

Let's calm down a bit about Acres, his opponent when forward was Neville Jetta...

But I'm glad Blakey is showing good signs each week. Seems to be gaining more confidence with more game time.

His ceiling is so damn high it's ridiculous.

Dunstan had a ripping 1st qtr for mine and kept us in it. Stellar qtr. Dropped off after that but came good in the 4th

Acres best signs I've seen from him. Started to use his size and take the game on. Needs to do that more and not do a stanley.

Geary is captain material

Bruce and armo are completely different players to last year :-(

Hickey immense. How good is it to have a decent ruck again
Agree with it all but need to touch on Bruce - he's having the similar (if not better) year to last year. The work he does around the ground and off the ball to allow guys like Membrey to kick 32 goals for the year shouldn't go unnoticed. I wish he got onto a few more as well and had some reward for effort but Bruce is one of our hardest workers.

Jarryn Geary!

Slots one on the run from 50 and wheels around like he does it all the time. No sign of a celebration. Couldn't help himself when he slotted the second one. Punched the air and smothered by his teammates. The momentum had already changed but these two goals set it in concrete.

Then at half time he pops up on the big screen saying it's all about the passion. Perfect timing.

A shoo-in for the old fashioned Best Clubman award.

The crowd jeering was deafening,
I think that umpire wanted a giant hole to open up and swallow him up . And so did every Saints fan . :D

It was amazing. Membrey had just taken a mark dead in front and all you could hear was booing from the Saints fans.

Get the canned crowd noises off the scoreboard. We know when to make a noise and how to make a noise! The spirit of the Animal Enclosure is returning to St Kilda!

uhhh... "very good player" ... ?? Is nick suban also a "very good player" to you?

what? one of the softest players out, and a king of the turnover game.
Jetta is widely regarded as one of the best small defenders in the comp over the past couple of years..

This post tells me you haven't watch the Demons and Jetta play since 2012 (minus perhaps the annual floggings we hand them).

Jetta is a pretty good small defender, Suban though is one of the worst players in the history of afl averaging 13 touches as a midfielder lmao

dont disagree at all with that. like i said to the other poster, if we had mccartin clunking a few out there, i think bruce would probably get onto another couple

having said that i think he's also adjusting to backing it up week in week out. i think he'll be much better placed this time next year

Last year, Roo was still getting the attention which I reckon let Bruce off the leash somewhat.

With Roo on a wing, Bruce is the main main targeted... allowing Membrey to get free. Once we get Paddy out there we will have 3 forwards who will need to be respected.

Won't matter if we have a dominant fwd any more because we should see a bigger and better spread of goals between the 3 of them.

Didn't see the game unfortunately.

But Acres just 12 touches again? And in the bit of the game I saw he missed a pretty easy set shot.

That's 50% of the 10 games he's played this year where he's had 13 or fewer touches.

What's going on there?
He is 20yo and averages 16 disposals per game. This is normal. Lenny was averaging 15.8 at the same age.

Even Dangerfield was only averaging 17 at the same age.

Keep your strides on. He is going fine.

Although his hands were quite good today, it's too bad he drops so many easy marks - especially when he's in a scoring position.
