Rhys Shaw to Sydney for 3rd Round Pick

Mixed emotions from me on this one. I've never really liked Shaw much as a person or a player but he did improve this year and we got him at a very reasonable price.

We'll just have to wait and see how he goes I guess.

Great. That's all we need. Another player that can't hit a target. FFS.

Would have much preferred Corrie from Brisbane with our 3rd pick, instead Collingwood got him for pick 93, which was their 7th round pick.

I just hope he can improve his effiency rating, and keep him away from Jonno Brown when we play Brisbane.

personally, im not happy with this trade. not for logical reasons, but because i've always disliked him cause he plays for the pies.

but hopefully he has a great year and i learn to like his ugly ugly head

he's 27.... a little older than desired but at pick 46... hardly is costing us anything

personally i rate him higher than what alot of you guys here do

luvin' the pick

You'll be surprised with his performance I think. He is not soft, he is pretty tough and will put his body on the line when needed. Not very good with one on ones though. Disposal is pretty bad, he can hit targets but when he misses one badly it affects him and his next couple of disposals are just as bad. Very good tackler and good contester (just not good one on one, if he has to take on 3 or 4 his 2nd and 3rd efforts are fantastic).

Do Sydney do trades for the sake of it? Rhys Shaw is good at times, but pretty poor at times too.

few reasons

- you don't have to tank to win premierships (ala 2005)
- 3rd round pick is hardly costing us anything... so why not?
- and according to roo's... we can't afford to bottom out

Mark him down for either a B&F or to win a final off his own boot for you.

That seems to be the way with Pies players going to Sydney

i'm expecting him to do a paul medhurst

often maligned at his old club.... but then do a 180 when he switches clubs

his 2008 form backs his potential and capabilities

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

A SHAW BROTHER....(one step closer 2 heath)

SOPHIE GOT A COLLINGWOOD BOY

I LOVE RHYCE IM SOOOOO HAPPY WE GOT HIM & AT A GOOD PRICE!

HES JUST WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW ESPCIALLY WHEN LEO GOES!

HES FAST 2!

AND I LIKE HIS HEAD!

he is 27 in a few days. i am furious right now.
3-4 years time he wont be playing afl and we have given up an opporunity to get a decent player.
rubbish trade.

if we get jibbed in the okeefe deal thats it. i dont think ill respect sydney much anymore, they consistantly trying to take short cuts to success at the expense of the team. everitt was the biggest mistake we have made by far. if anyone tries to tell me we needed a 2nd ruckman bullshit. look at other struggling teams; carlton, richmond, essendon all have one ruckman. i compare sydney to these teams as we were around their mark at seasons end, probably below them. except to lose to these sides next year, remember rhyce shaw isnt the answer no matter how good he plays for his remaining years at sydney.
