Rhys Shaw to Sydney for 3rd Round Pick

When you are looking at a late draft pick, the chances of that pick making it is less than 50%.

If you look at some of ours over the years:

Jarrad Sundqvist (54)

I reckon poor Sunny would of been an absolute gun if he didn't do his knee. I vividly remember his first game for us in 02 against the Dees. Did some awesome stuff sweeping off half back. Even did a nice 360 and gather through some dees defenders in that game.

I think you got a great deal, you gave up next to nothing for a potentially damaging player. He has really (unfairly) copped it at Collingwood, but has shown he can be a very handy player. I expect him to thrive in a new environment, all the best for '09. :thumbsu:

This is one thing I think Rhyce will never be.
He had his best season in 2008 and played an important role for us. His disposal is NO WHERE NEAR as bad as some Collingwood "supporters" claim it to be. But one thing it will never be is damaging.
I spent the whole season defending Rhyce against some of the morons on BF. There was one particularly interesting thread (which was removed after it became a slanging match filled with some rather colourful language) where some moron was bagging out Rhyce after a game where he played quite well but made one shocking mistake. The idiot could not bring up any stats or incidents (apart from that one shocker) to back up his unmerciful attack on Rhyce.

I think that's the major reason why he was such a punching bag for some supporters. He could play very decently for a whole game, but nothing would stand out. He was just a very solid contributor. But when he f*ks something up, you will know all about it. His stuff ups always seem to result in either a missed goal for your own team, or a turn over and a goal for the opposition.
That said, he didn't make one of his major stuff ups for about the first 12 rounds last year. Up until that point, his stats were not unsimilar to that of Gary Ablett's if I remember correctly. He was something like 5th in the COMP for marks, and his disposal was the best it had been for his whole career.
Anyways, I'm sure I have rambled on long enough.
I really wish Rhyce all the best.
I was his "buddy reporter" this season, here is a link to the thread. I fell away in about June because I started a very demanding job, but some of you might find it interesting anyways.

Sounds like a word for word description of LRT. Hopefully Rhyce can take some of the heat off him.

thanks skeetz...:thumbsu:

Surely (excuse the pun) Shaw will get the 10? Because Davis and Mathews' will be rested for a year?
Why would they be rested? Shaw wore #22 with Collingwood so I think #2 is a big chance.
