Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Richmond will just about pay 75% of Hopper , taranto , Balta contracts in 1 year as well as paying tom Lynch final year $1.5 mil in 2025.

Big free agency plays coming up for Richmond next 2-3 years
Hope cap trading comes in next year also

Probably a big reason while Balta was happy to stay. If he gets a chunk of his money early can invest, buy property, get new glasses etc which will grow over the length of the contract.

Just got a lot of $$ out of our books, giving us the options to front load some contracts and create a lot of cap room for future FAs when the side is a bit stronger.

We're starting in a shit position but we're setting ourselves up very nicely with a haul of talent this year and probably next year too assuming we'll probably have pick 1 again and might even trade some picks into next year.

It'll be a rebuild but it's got a lot going for it now.

Wouldn't you rather spread these 8 picks across 2-3 drafts?

Otherwise you'll end up with a Melbourne/Carlton of the 2010's situation where you have a stack of young talent and a huge lack of senior players to guide them.

And grabbing all these picks in a Super Draft too... extremely exciting times. Just gotta nail your picks

Well done on cutting hard and fast - coming from a Crows fan who wish we did the same earlier

I hope we use 6 TBH. Next year's depth is unknown so not sure we should try and flip too many into next year.

There's a difference between senior players and leaders though, I was having a look at Richmond's list earlier and there's plenty of questionable characters remaining who fall into that 'senior' age bracket.
Nank, Vlaustin, Broad, Lynch, Taranto....
Questionable characters.......hahahahaha f me dead.

We wont use 8 this year

If we dont trade up for pick #2 which would be 2 picks for just pick #2 i would imagine so that gets it down to 7

Very good chance there could be huge demand for picks #23 & #24 being the 1st pick 2nd day
Both these picks could potentially get Richmond 2 x F1 picks

So possibly 6 picks this year and 3 x 1st rounders 1 x 2nd rounder next year

It's a lot easier to acquire senior, role-playing leaders if required than it is elite young talent :thumbsu:

A lot of people suggesting we trade up to pick 2 but I'm not massively in favour of it. Every draft has a lot of lottery about it and not every top kid succeeds, much rather take my chances with a number of picks in a strong draft.

1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23, 24 is a really good hand, and I'd probably even trade one or two of the 18 - 24 picks into next year's draft, maybe grab a future first off the Lions or Swans or something.

I'm the same, I really hope we don't but I just feel like we will. If it happens I hope we don't over pay either. North will try and be greedy with what we currently have

Only reason i would want to trade up is to get the Lalor / FOS double
Im in favour of trading for F1's but only with #23 & #24 if the offers are from clubs like Essendon,Crows,Hawks,Stkilda

Are we any chance of getting FOS at 1 and Lalor at 6?
That's my ideal first two selections as well.

Hope we trade a few into 2025. Maybe some slides for later 1sts + F2.

And of course we'll have a huge amount of salary cap space. Supposedly (waiting on the AFL to sort it out) cap trading will come in next year. So we might be able to buy one or two more firsts in 2025.

So, if it works out, we could do about 6 or so firsts this year, then 3 - 5 firsts next year. Interesting times.
