Remember when Yze said this is a new Richmond era and threw out all the old premiership pictures and memorabilia. https://archive.sen.com.au/news/202...ck-yzes-decision-to-hide-richmonds/index.html

Given what we know about Yze saying goodbye to past eras and just looking ahead, it makes it even more bizarre Richmond has told the draftees to GAGF and that they cannot have the numbers they want even though Lolor (their #1 pick) had his eyes on #4. https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/r...s/news-story/5f818b03ad5f4e9bcb3cd68a4f219905

One of the most bizarre moves I've seen a club make. After a week of training they must have realised what the rest of us already knew, they have drafted a bunch of spuds.

This is something Carlton haven't had too worry about in a long time, premiership problems.

What club gives first year players their choice of number, maybe this is why Carlton have been on average the worst team in the AFL over the last 30 years:$
Brisbane gave Ashcroft #8 last season and thats seemed to work out pretty well. Guess he is a good player though and Richmond know they got spuds

Interestingly, Richmond noted it had “opted to keep the numbers recently worn by triple premiership and 300-game icons Dustin Martin (4), Jack Riewoldt (8), Trent Cotchin (9) and Shane Edwards (10) vacant for the 2025 season”.

Big **** you to Dylan Grimes from Richmond. Riewoldt and Cotchin retired last year, Edwards retired two years ago and they keep those numbers vacant. Yet they give Grimes' number straight to mega spud Hopper.

Hearing the young guys have all put contract talks on hold, not exactly rapt with playing for a club that can scrounge together just the two wins for an entire season. Guys who are in it for the long haul like Hopper however were given access to the premium numbers.

In theory I guess so. Whether Hopper can ever actually get on the field to wear it is another matter

Will couldn't wear his Dads number 10 because it was taken, so they gave him what they had left, number 8, Chris Johnson wore 8 before Will, I don't believe Johnson, although a good player, ever won a Brownlow or even one Norm Smith medal and he was certainly not the GOAT, so I have no idea what your point about giving Will the number 8 is?

Carlton supporters lecturing people on how to run a club is hilarious, as always its no bags no flags at Blueland.

I love a good story, do you also do trans fairy tales?

So your coach if a weak wristed flop. One one hand says "get rid of premiership history we are building our own era" nek minnet its 'respect the past era and don't even give jumper numbers out'. No future with Yze I'm afraid

lol you won 2 of those flags before we entered the comp and a 3rd in the year we entered the then VFL, so since we entered the comp our record is one less flag but our head to head record in finals and grand finals is...
  • Richmond and Carlton have met six times in Grand Finals, with the Tigers winning four – 1921, 1932, 1969, 1973, and the Blues winning two – 1972, 1982.
  • Richmond and Carlton have met in 23 finals all-up, with the Tigers winning 16, losing six and drawing one.
We own Carlton and we managed it without cheating ;)

As for coaches you have Crazy Vossie need I say more.

What are you thoughts on Yze saying one thing but doing another? Maybe he needs a little blue tablet. Has gone soft

My thoughts are that you're obviously a little confused, maybe you're not old enough to have experienced a Carlton Premiership flag and you're certainly not old enough to have experienced an untainted Blues flag, I'm not even that old, so I can understand that you don't realise that taking down some Premiership pictures etc so the club can move from one golden era to the next is normal, while also being able to honour the key players from that flag era by retiring their jumpers for one season.

I guess as yet in the modern era Carlton hasn't had a player worth retiring the jumper for, or maybe I'm mistaken, Juddy had some success at WCE and I do believe they may have retired this one?
