A few of us worried about our prep for this game and were proven right. Miller was also exposed tonight as being too slow and too inept at goal kicking - the knock that has followed him throughout his career. As for the others it's two steps forward one step back which is typical of an improving side.

Can anyone explain to me when we are playing on saturday in Darwin players are doing all kinds of media appearances in melbourne on thurs night and the team is only going up the day before hand. Seems to me like we took this game lightly and just expected to win and it really showed in our performance and effort.

Also clowns like jack, dan jackson, dustin martin and co need to stop trying to be comedians on twitter and focus on being footballers, if the tv i was watching tonight was owned by me i have no doubt something would of ended up going through it

Newman again a weak effort - 2 in 3 weeks. The talk of him as a great captain scares me. Open your eyes and look at what happens on the field.

Helbig - no composure - might be a player but shouldn't be playing seniors ATM.
Farmer - grow some balls. A player from the 80's. Too slow, dud kick, dud decision maker. Delist.
Batchelor - got absolutely pantsed tonight. Showed how good Grimes has been.

Miller - too slow, goes to ground. As we won't be playing finals there is absolutely zero reason to keep playing the big spud at CHF.

Roo - a disgusting non tema effort - pull your heads in bloodnut.

King- a media lockout as part of your new 2 year deal should be slated for you.

The major concern is Dimma. He can't control the slow starts. He's playing spuds to fill holes.
They looked like a friggin rabble tonight. Do your F$%$ing Job!

After 31 years, I'm sick of this weak sh$t!

Wow, some of you went surprisingly feral surprisingly quickly lol.

Crap game, many players who should be ashamed of their performances but settle down folks. We'll come out of the bye still within a game or two of the eight which isn't bad for a team at our stage of development.

But please, never sell a home game again. We should be trying to get every home game at the G, not selling them off and handing the advantage to our opponents. Just how much did we get for selling this one anyway?

I'm disgusted, but wow this board goes into meltdown over a loss.

The side is only 1 and a half years from starting over from scratch.

The club has assessed we're not cut out for finals this year, we're aiming for next year. Those who expected it need to blame themselves, not the team.

I think I'm gonna steer clear of this board for a while...

It's not about going into meltdown, it's about this team falling to bits when ever they have the chance to take the next step. FFS it's Port, you have the chance to make the 8 and go 6th. Something is wrong if that doesn't motivate you to play your heart out. I think the coach also got out coached and took a while to respond like the bulldogs game.

Lacklustre Game, and we couldn't have had a more shocking lead -up, but we were due for a bad one. Were young, and yes we, probably would have won if we were playing in Melbourne, Hopefully the game acts as a bit of a reality check. I have no doubt we will bounce back, we have improved imeasurably since Dimma became coach, and, even better, our season is still alive

we're 1 and a half years into a rebuild yes, but I think most on this board expect the team to put in an effort if inexperience lets us down then so be it at least we tried.

turning up for a game in darwin the day before hand with half the team busy at their part time jobs as twitter comedians and media personalities we never took the game seriously to begin with.

If we ever want to be taken seriously we should be winning games against teams widely regarded as the worst in the afl every day of the week the longer we accept this losing culture of 'oh well the guys are young' 'oh well the other team tried harder'.

I'm 25 I would like to actually see a premiership, all I expect is the team to try every week and the results will come. It's insipid useless and weak performances like tonight that piss people off not the actual losing

Cant blame the ground or conditions. We haven't played at the ground before, whereas port have. Going on tonights performance I doubt gale and co are gonna rush back to darwin anytime soon. Some efforts just haven't been good enough...simple as that. Jack needs to learn that not every game is about trying to take mark of the year, it's just stupid attention seeking antics and makes us look unstructured. Angus was voted BOG in todays game against collingwood, thank f***. Andrew browne is to be dropped, hopeless spud! We desperately missed Gus tonight. Thank god tucky was subbed in, he needs to be in from the start. Once again axel and jakey king tried their guts out. I understand miller wasn't having much of an influence, but why sub him off when it's just gonna play in ports hands....they were already double teaming him as it was. Credit to port who clearly showed they had more hunger and desire for the win. Get ready for all the opposition team haters to absolutely dish it out. But in alll honesty, we deserved to lose. Never looked threatening from the beginning.
OUT: Browne, helbig, grigg, cotch (may be looking at suspension.....plain stupidity, was no need for it).
IN: Gus, give gooda or astbury a chance. Nason to come back in. Give hissy a chance prove himself. I'm a trainer for one of the opposition vfl teams, so was there when we played coburg. Webbers didnt do much in my opinion to deserve a call up.

It is about going into meltdown. Are you blind to the threads and multitude of moronic, drunken posts? You'd think our side was pushing for a top 4 finish and had lost a crucial game to Gold Coast at the G the way some flogs carry on.

I'm sorry, but we fall to bits whenever we have a chance to take the next step? As I've said, its 1.5 years since Dimma started from scratch, when have we had these numerous chances?

As much as I hate to say it, every poster who criticised the selling of the game is right, every poster who criticised our getting up there late was right. We weren't up to a game of footy against a side that wanted it more, and that hurts.

I think tonight really has brought us back to reality and in the long term could be a good thing. We are no way near ready for top 8...getting up there now would only stunt our long term growth. Few points i would like to make:

1. Miller while being serviceable as a crash and bash has only kicked 6 goals or something. He is a terrible set shot and slow. With 2 weeks until our next game I think they should bring Griffiths in. He might not be ready but I think he could do a similar job and he is part of our future. Get him teaming up with Jack now so in 2-3 years he has some experiance.

2. Matt White is only a short term solution who needs to be replaced. Has no composure with the ball and is a front runner. Seems like a nice guy but goes missing when we need a player like him to stand up.

3. Grigg is another stop gap.

4. Browne is not the answer...but neither is Gus. Vickery will be our number 1 ruck and if his not then we need to recruit one.

5. Selling the home game seems like a shit idea now but the club netted about 600k tonight. That goes towards a gun tap ruckman imo lol.

6. Deledio was shite tonight...lacked effort.

7. Helbig is not ready for senior footy and shouldn't be gifted games with that effort. He spectates alot and I really don't like the look of him at the moment...looks like a passenger. Might be a player in the future but I think for now he needs 2 years in the VFl to put on size and increase his running capacity.

8. We missed Grimes.
