Just watched the highlights video of Piva Wright... this kid is a beast... looked a man playing against the boys in the juniors.
Give him a couple of seasons to fill out some more and could be a ripper down back.

Yup... Although Rance is a good size, would love for a kid like this to really bulk up and become a Mal Michael type who can take on the hulking forwards or the resting ruckmen up forward.

Personally I like the selection of Gibson Turner the most. Seems like the type of player we have been missing up forward for years.

True, however if I remember correctly Mal Michael used to stand players that were a good head taller than him and still managed to outmuscle them in marking contests to spoil the ball.

Stoked we picked up Steve Verrier. Is a gun footballer and could be anything for us. Has all the traits required to be a handy AFL player, and can play all over the ground.
Grock, do you know the family? Is his old man's name also Steven? He was a top player in my junior days along with his brother Michael (who I played with). If he has any of the hardness at the ball of his family members, I think you guys have got a good'un there.

Don't know the family, know Steven though, as I was at school with him in specialised football. His old man's name is Steven though. He is a good player, no doubt.
Good to see someone from the old "K-Town" make it onto a list, hopefully he goes well...

Tigers take six rookies
Richmond has selected former Melbourne small forward Addam Maric with its first pick (No. 7 overall) in today’s AFL rookie draft.
Maric, 21, 177cm and 76kg, played 21 games and kicked 15 goals in four seasons with the Demons after being taken at pick 21 overall in the 2007 National Draft.
He had been training with the Tigers during the pre-season following his delisting by Melbourne and the Club is hopeful the change of football scenery will enable him to realise his considerable talent at the game’s highest level.
Richmond took 18-year-old disciplined, tall defender, Ben Darrou, from Sandringham Dragons with its second pick (No. 25 overall) in the rookie draft.
Darrou, 190cm and 97kg, blossomed at TAC Cup level this year and was rewarded with selection in the Vic Metro squad for the under-18 national championships, where he acquitted himself well in the two games he played.
He is highly regarded for his all-round defensive skills, courage, composure, decision-making, and is a reliable, effective kick.
At pick 43 overall, the Tigers went for Steven Verrier, an 18-year-old from WAFL club South Fremantle.
Verrier, 187cm and 76kg, is a rangy, rebounding defender, who forced his way into South Fremantle’s senior side late in the 2011 season.
He loves taking the game on with his run and carry, attacks the ball strongly, and is brave overhead.

Turner, 18, 177cm and 69kg, captured the attention of AFL talent scouts with his performances for the Northern Territory in the under-18 national championships this year, as well as with Glenelg in Adelaide, where he’s currently residing due to his schooling.
He is multi-dimensional in attack, displaying substantial flair and goal sense as a crumbing forward, as well as being dangerous on the lead, where his speed, vertical leap and marking ability make him difficult to match up on.
The Tigers took strongly-built, 18-year-old, key defender, Piva Wright, with their fifth pick (No. 74 overall).
Wright, 189cm and 97kg, impressed throughout the 2011 season for TAC Cup team Dandenong Stingrays, as well as with Vic Country in the under-18 national championships.
He combines physical presence and aggression with good mobility for his size, along with an outstanding vertical leap, which he uses to advantage, both defensively and offensively.
Richmond selected young Irish sports star, John Heslin, with its sixth and final pick (No. 90 overall) in the rookie draft.
Heslin, 19, 188cm and 88kg, has excelled at soccer, as well as Ireland’s two indigenous sports, Gaelic football and hurling.
He has already impressed the Tigers in training so far with his ability to adapt to our game, strong work ethic and attitude.
