Just on the Rioli situation, I'm struggling to understand why he would be worth more than a 3rd rounder? If we look at the facts in regards to his history with suspension due to drugs, the limited amount of games played and goals kicked over his career coupled with his age I just don't get it?

Can someone explain his worth to me?
Not to be flippant but why is he worth four years at $500k then? Pretty hefty offer for someone not worth much with a troubled past who will be 31 by the end of the deal.

I understand the concerns at face value given his history, but Port’s reported offer doesn’t line up with the high risk reclamation project narrative.

That and the fact the Eagles openly wanted to re-sign him and have committed to him in more ways than one over years, why would they be inclined to accept a lower offer?

I'll give you a clue . It's the same reason you are willing to pay him 500k x 4years .

Because your club sticks it’s dick into anything that moves and in Rioli case he’s a NFA so you need to trade for him or the Eagles can let him walk . It’s not that hard to understand

Reported offer, how do we know that's factual?
 
It would be seen as an uncontracted player exercising their right to leave a club only to be drafted back to the same club, I know a player chooses to go into the draft/PSD but it would absolutely be seen as something untoward and I imagine some people and groups would have to get involved.

Even if so, the most they could do would be change the rules for next time.

He is a match winner who brings others into games and is elite by foot passing inside F50.

Elite goal sense.

If he was on the open market you wouldn't win the auction with a 3rd rounder.

How about 33 & 43 for Junior? We then trade 33, 38 and 43 to Brisbane for pick 15 (they gain about 300 points assuming I did that calculator thing correctly). We loose Junior + 38 for pick 15. This leaves us with 2, 15, 20 and 26.
Well, I often wonder if this is the type of trade set up that is sorted off the record making the initial swaps look odd. Its looks ok for us even though speculative.

We don’t specifically, but it’s hardly going to be miles off the case. All we have to go on is the fact the Eagles wanted to keep him, there have been no reports of the Eagles lowballing him, Port are actively pursuing him, and Rioli stated he wanted to get himself set up financially so let’s not pretend he’s volunteering his time out of good faith.

Selling club doesn’t want to lose player.
Buying club clearly wants players.
Player wants financial security.

All adds up to Port at the very least thinking he’s more than fringe list filling depth. BigFooty posturing doesn’t actually impact what the trade shakes out at, but it’s hard to reconcile a club who very clearly want a player, a fan base who rate him, a selling club with otherwise no interest in selling all just coming together and winding up at some random pick in the 40s.

No way would Brisbane take later pick for a 1sr round. Like us those late picks mean nothing. That's a horrible trade and no one gives a crap about points when it comes to picks in the 30s.

Even if you said pick 50,51,52,53,54,55,56,57,58,59 and pick 60 for pick 15 it most likely would get rejected. High picks mean nothing really.

God I’d hate that, Powell-Pepper will just block our young draftees from getting midfield time

How do we know that the draft projections are factual? The best player in the class might be taken at pick 70. Really struggling to understand why Ashcroft might be worth Pick 1 when we don’t even know the full facts of his career yet. Can someone explain for me please?

If we didn't budge at anything more than 27, on what planet do you see spp being up for grabs lol, he is worth a lot more than 27.
