Point still stands, even moreso now Port have diluted the pick most likely to be able to get the deal done
Maybe they are doing what The Eagles want.
Maybe the Eagles said 27 isn’t enough and are after Trade points for the loins 1st or future 1st?
We don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors all guess work

Only if the Eagles can learn how to package up Spuds & Old Busted Warn out Farts for 2nd rounders. #GetGaffGorn

Maybe we get 33 & Frederick from Port for Rioli? The need for speed.
In Frederick's 3 full games this year he is averaging 8 touches 3 tackles and kicked 1 goal for the year .

He is way worse than langdon who everyone wants delisted

The deal is done; they are just arguing about what player both sides will agree to.
North latest gambit is Bergman, Port have offered up Bonner (+ the two picks).
IMO Port should do the bergman + 2 firsts deal. I like Bergman but Sinn can come in a pay that role just fine.

How about 33 & 43 for Junior? We then trade 33, 38 and 43 to Brisbane for pick 15 (they gain about 300 points assuming I did that calculator thing correctly). We loose Junior + 38 for pick 15. This leaves us with 2, 15, 20 and 26.

33 and 43 is better than 27 alone, would make trading up for Brisbanes 1st easier as well

Not how it works mate. He can get picked by anyone, and if he refuses to play for who he gets picked by then he sits out a season. Doesn't get to pick and choose where he goes based on Port's contract offer.
I'm pretty sure he can set his own asking price like Jack Wiliams did.

Doubt he gets past Essendon either. They’ll have plenty of cap space, especially if they miss out on Bowes, so a big contract price won’t scare them off.

I feel that is pretty close.

Great pick swap for Port there.

Frederick has no value...

So why not just 27+Frederick...?

Sure, Port have bagged pick 43 (pick 53 is pretty much worthless to everyone this year) - but at the cost of missing Rioli? that doesn't add up.

I'm pretty comfortable there will need to be a trade or two more before by Port before we see our Rioli offer.

There was enough hate on picking up Jayden hunt, can someone explain to me why we want Fredericks?

Send the future second rounder Port or walk him to the PSD.

No way Port will give us 33 & 43 (and just keep 53) after trading 27 for them.
Wouldn't surprise me if they are really putting the Rioli trade to the back of the queue in regards to priorities.

If Port gave us all those middle of the road picks for Rioli and we chuck our 38 in as well.

Would think Port would probably just try to pull off a trade for 15 themselves and give themselves more to work with. Very circular way to get the same result ie 27 out and Rioli in, so surely not on the table.

An uncontracted player leaving and then being picked up again by the same club. The AFLPA would get involved you'd think.

Why?

That’s a distinct possibility in a draft system. Teams with higher picks get first crack, and a player might end up at a club he doesn’t want to be at.

Sorry for the intrusion, I come in peace.

Just on the Rioli situation, I'm struggling to understand why he would be worth more than a 3rd rounder? If we look at the facts in regards to his history with suspension due to drugs, the limited amount of games played and goals kicked over his career coupled with his age I just don't get it?

Can someone explain his worth to me?

Port might just do that as well. They need 1st rounders for JHF.

But I can't see how the Lions trade for Dunkley. Lions future 1st is obvious as they will trade that our to avoid the carry over points dilluting it.

15 and a future 1st for Dunkley?

So then how do they pay for Ashcroft and Fletcher?

His worth is apparently $500,000 per year according to Chris Davies.

It would be seen as an uncontracted player exercising their right to leave a club only to be drafted back to the same club, I know a player chooses to go into the draft/PSD but it would absolutely be seen as something untoward and I imagine some people and groups would have to get involved.

Catya later pick 27

Interesting comments from Melbourne:

''We have been able to do so by bundling three selections, including two that we did not intend to use at the national draft this year''

They now hold only 27 (plus really late picks). Either they intend to upgrade a couple of players, or they pretty much know what they are getting for Jackson (and what they have to pay for Grundy). Seeing as teams have to use 3 picks, that says to me they are probably getting 3 picks in this year for Jackson (then either 27 or something slightly earlier goes for Grundy).
