Great to see Fog named. Didn't particularly stand out through the preseason games but I think he'll be a better player for us than many are expecting.

I had him in my best side but as one of the handful fighting it out for the remaining couple of spots in the 22.

With news of his inclusion, my updated 22 is:

B: Plowman - Jones - Docherty
HB: Saad - Weitering - SPS
C: Newnes - Curnow - Setterfield
HF: Martin - Casboult - Murphy
F: Fisher - McKay - Silvagni
R: Pittonet - Cripps - Walsh
INT: Dow - Williamson - Fogarty - ??

LOB, Eddie, Cuningham, Gibbons, OMac fighting it out for the last spot.
I agree with your 21. Eddie would be in if fit.
I’d have Gibbons, Cuningham and LOB next in that order

Spot on IMO. Only Williams, Charlie and TDK missing from the certified best 22 (huge outs, however). We'll need to be at our best, and Tiges will need to be off, but this game is winnable (as long as Harry gets through the game).
Injured and yet to debut obviously, but spare a thought for Kemp in your calculations.

So why did cats trade forgarty get traded to us?
They were using him as a forward with limited midfield exposure. He'll rotate more with us, and he's probably best suited to a 70 mid/30 fwd split.

There are 4 players on the Interchange to cover for a player who gets concussed (or otherwise seriously injured). The Sub thing is ridiculous, there is no need.
So this!!!
Clowns like Clarko are going to kill fabric of this game with their want to have a zillion on the bench.

You can pencil in SOJ. They will reward his form and we need a capable third tall. Grimes will run rampant otherwise.

I have Newnes, Gibbons and Cuners rounding out your 22. Not convinced Eddie is in.

So with the club announcing that Newnes is likely to line up, that leaves us with:

Doc, Jones, Plow
Saad, Weiters, SPS
Setters, Walsh, Willo
Pittonet, Cripps, Curnow
Martin, Casboult, Murphy
Betts*, McKay, Fisher
I/C: Dow, Fogarty, Newnes, XXXX

I think JSOS for the last bench spot makes sense. Gives us a third tall forward, but also has the versatility to contribute higher up the ground.

Then it's a question of whether Betts plays. If not I suspect Cunners gets the nod.

Which player we take in as the sub probably depends on what the restrictions are on how the sub can be used. If it's for any injury, then I think we go with OMac given we've got Casboult and McKay coming back from respective injury issues. If it's concussion only then probably just go with a versatile mid/forward like Gibbons.

Yeah Eddie would be there if fully fit but I'm not sure he is. He's our best small forward but would rather we overlook him if he's not totally ready to go - we do have options now.

Gibbons would have to be 3rd in line there for a call up given he was barely sighted through the preseason.

Jack is a lock IMO.

Had him on the periphery through the off-season but his performance against St Kilda was too good not to reward.

Gov's injury certainly helps him also.

Docherty-Jones-Plowman
SPS-Weitering-Saad
Setteffield-Curnow-Newnes
Martin-Casboult-Murphy
JSos-McKay-Fisher
Pittonet-Cripps-Walsh
Williamson-Fogarty-Dow-Cuningham
LO'B and Gibbons fighting out 23rd man

I like that line-up. Having both Martin and JSos in the forward line gives us versatility with the ball both in the air and on the ground. Hopefully Harry and Cas can stay out of each other's way and we can isolate some defenders.

Gibbons or Cuners will be the perfect 23rd man. Leaning towards Gibbo. Keen to see what Cuners can do with ZW’s midfield minutes.

Looks to be spot on for me

Eddie said he wouldn’t pick himself for this game so I can’t see how our club would. McKay, Newnes and Cas being right to go makes our side atleast look a thousand times better.

Come on down Nicky Graham.

Stupid rule AFL just leave the game alone! :rage:

Hm.

Don't like that this means a developing player misses out on a reserves game, or that the reserves side is weakened by taking one of their best players out and plonking them on the senior bench to potentially not play a minute of football.

Do like that the choice to sub a player off is in the hands of the club doctor. Just gotta hope they're given some clear expectations around how loose they can be with "precuationary" decisions.
