Wingard similar to Stringer? Really? :)
I think so. Obviously you disagree (not sure the smiley face is necessary btw).

They're both very talented players that make their biggest impacts in the F50. Without knowing exactly, I'd suggest they're similarly sized as well (although happy to be proven wrong).

Wingard is 180. Stringer is 192

They both kick goals but they're not similar types.

Stringer is just around 192cm I think. He can play a lot shorter than that though - really good at ground level and excellent skills.

You need someone who has a fair bit of agility as well as decent height and strength to play on him, otherwise he will take advantage of whatever area his opposition player has as a weakness. White and Tuohy would both be decent matchups, though too much of a negating role is needed to waste Tuohy on Stringer. I'd rather Tuohy play on Grant even if he gives away a few cm so that he can run off the guy with more confidence. If Grant plays deep in the F50, we would need someone else to stand him though.

Wingard is about 10cms shorter than Stringer.

Stringer is one of those in between heights. Plays tall or short. Is he a KPP or will he eventually be a tall mid. Very much a utility prospect tough to match up on. I think the buzz about him seems to be about the fact that he can play anywhere and make a good fist of it.

The Dogs describe him as a big bodied forward who takes contested marks and can push up through the midfield. They also say that he defends and tackles up forward so he can play a smaller forwards role as well.

I do think White is the best option we have for him at present.

Wingard is a small forward like Akermanis.

Stringer is a Half forward..... sort of like Judd would have been if he camped at HFF.

Matthew Dick for Docherty perhaps?

With Tuohy back in form, Bucks running off half back, Yarran back in, Simmo directing traffic back there ... and Doc moving up around the midfield a little more last week, I'd rather replace his run than his defensive skills.

Dick's a running HBF from what little I've seen on him (preseason).

Fitting Jamison into the back line and maintaining that strong rebounding game from HB that we have right now seems difficult though.

Rowe most likely to go to Boyd.
If Crameri plays, then Tuohy makes for the easy match-up.
I don't think the Dogs will go too tall in their forward line and if White is the preferred option for Stringer, what for Jamison?

I think I'd sooner Jamison on Stringer than White who has been stretched in recent weeks.
According to the Dogs board and Beverage last night on TV, it's highly unlikely that Crameri will play.

Fair enough. I haven't noticed him play the 'tall' role as such but I guess he plays both as you suggest.

I certainly wouldn't compare him to a Jack Darling. Darling doesn't have anywhere near the same skill at ground level.

Will be an interesting match up, whoever goes onto him.

O.K. but Tuohy works well on those mid-sized and even smaller forwards.

Still leaves the Jamison/White dilemma................dilemma :)

Forgot about Grant...........that takes care of that then.

Depends where they play. Out of the square maybe Jamo with his closing speed. Roaming around the front half of the ground, definitely White. Remember Stringer can push through the midfield, and White has been there. Jamo ... no way.

They may have to be on their game to do the old switch-a-roo at a seconds notice.

Dogs have some inexperienced height in Roberts and Hamling. They also have Grant who is another mobile tall that needs a pacy third defender if he goes forward.

Last week it was Minson and Roughead rucking so I can see the younger blokes splitting between forward and back as they have Morris and Wood down back so don't need them all.

I think there will be a role for Jamison but it's impossible to know how the Dogs will line up.

Hope BT aint commentating this match. Can hear it now -

"Let's see if Whitey can go with THE PACKAGE!!"

I'd like to deliver a 'PACKAGE' to BT. One in a brown paper bag, that's been lit on fire....

Haven't seen much of Roberts and Hamling but they are definitely inexperienced...really expecting to see Casboult and Hendo get on top in those duels, as well as Everitt

I like the potential of White on Stringer, even though i was calling for him to be dropped. Think he might match up on him quite well. Maybe White does survive for another week.

What made White's effort against Martin in R1 even more meritorious is he was smashed in the head/neck in the first few minutes of the game.
