No Sugar. If he did not get a look in for this one I cannot see him returning anytime soon. Had good VFL form and would offer a bit in the midfield and up fwd. I think it is Ratts making a statement that he will not be told what to do by callers like Walls et al who have been calling for Sugar.
Ellard did indeed take 2 very heavy hits amongst others. He will be better with a decent rest but he IS our leading tackler avg 7 per game I think. Curnow and others will need to fill a void that last time Ellard missed out was glaringly obvious to one and all. AJ was good last week but will need to really do a job. Brock MUST NOT go missing
Going to be at work with the transistor radio on. Not looking forward to tomorrow night at all
Oh thrilled McInnes gets a gig. Goodluck lad!

Hoping ellard is back soon, figured he maybe injured

Hoping for a historical win, backs against the wall .

Was really miffed that Ellard was dropped. So did a quick stat comparison between him and Curnow using Footywire.

2012 Av. Ellard Curnow
Disp. 19.8 18
Marks 3.1 3.3
Goals 0.5 0
Tackles 6.6 3.9
Goal Assists 0.1 0.2
Goals Contributed 0.6 0.2
I50 2.9 1.8

Missing disposal efficiency.

Not much in the stats. Except Ellard lays a few more tackles and can sneak a goal (both of which I think we need at the moment). I like Curnow. But why are we punishing a player who has done nothing wrong to reward another?
Clearly after some more goal assists.

What is this... I don't even.

Is Kreuzer undroppable? It's plain as day that the Warnock-Hampson combination will be the most profitable one for us at the moment, yet we insist on playing a clearly injured and horribly out of form Kreuzer. Yet another weak decision from the MC.

As for dropping Ellard, I really don't know what to say.

What's the deal with Thornton? I was certain he would be in this week.

Thornton clearly is on the outer with Ratten, had a good game last week, and for a team that desperately lack some structure he should have been given the opportunity.
He performed very well last season, as a swingman, and the team selection leaves us with little or no options down back or up forward if we are getting well beaten.
Also have to wonder what is going on with Kane Lucas, he looks to be heading down the Shaun Grigg direction, very competent player who may excel at another club.

$4.65 the win on the Tote.

Am jumping onto that bugger. :thumbsu:

Can someone fill me in on McInnes. He seems a decent size.

What are his strengths, kicking, marking, running, jumping????

He's similar to Marcus Davies. He's a stopper who will give you his all but he doesn't provide much run off his man, isn't quite tall enough to play key back and not quick/nimble enough to play on smalls once the ball hits the ground. In other words he's a traditional third tall. He Has a nice penetrating kick, but doesn't use it enough and at VFL level he's a bit of a backline general who orchastrates the switch of play.

Like I said mate, my source, and as I explained earlier this is an ex player who is still very good mates with Thornton, told me that Ratten, and in his words not mine, HATES Thornton. It came up as we were discussing inclusions and I said surely Thornton gets a run this week to which he explained to me their relationship.

Whats the go with Ellard getting dropped? He has really grown on me the last 2-3 years, i think is a vital cog in the midfield. A bit miffed he got dropped? form has been decent hasnt it? Plus can kick goals.

Good to see curnow back, was a key player last year especially first half of the year, need that form back.

All the best to McInnes, from all reports has earned the call up, hope they play him all game and not have him as sub. Let the kid play.

Still think we will get flogged and will have the pies over 5 goals in my multi.

I can see the logic behind not picking Thornton. I think he is a better forward option at the moment, but as many supporters of BF say, when a player is not part of the future why play him? I can understand that logic . Dropping Ellard though...

I guess this means the coaches are going to persist with Hampson at FF. While he will never be a great FF to be fair, when our structures held up and he was leading from deep he did a decent job (Rounds 1-3). It's when our structures fail and he has to come up the ground that he struggles.

You play him because he is much better option that what we have, we need a lead up forward option, tomorrow night, the only reason he is not picked is because Ratten dislikes him very clear.

Form aside, I honestly don't see why we can't win this game. We held their midfield well in Round 3 and Cloke was far from effective. You never know what these games will throw up.

A probably loss, but a sneaky chance.

What? Kreuzer needs to keep playing. The position he's played lately is the problem.
Kreuzer has been floated around the field, rather than playing in a set position. I think with Warnock out we'll have a more traditional ruckman.

The same people begging for Thornton to play are the same that would be begging for him to be dropped in two weeks time. Same old same old.

Sorry mate, not me, I think he should have been playing all year, especially with Setanta being delisted. Need some stability in our forward line, and that is what I feel Thornton offers :)
