A few people on the main board predicting an upset, feels a lot like the lead up to our last game v Richmond. Hopefully we do what we did then, come out breathing fire early and stomp on their spirits.

Please play Joey as a tagger on a midfielder. That's how he's best suited. Ever since they've tried to make him into a small defender he's been terribly average.

Agree.

Seems to be more love for AJ among the coaching staff than on this board. Got to allow that he is still pretty young and if he has upside could end up being a valuable role player.

I like him. He has real crack. Hope he improves enough to make it.

Army will be the sub I think.

Blues by 45 points after a close first half and a spiteful clash.

As I previously said Guns, I don't rate him at ALL as a pure small defender. But I do think he is a very good midfield tagger. That's where he started and did so well. Don't see Cameron Ling or Kane Cornes or Steven Baker playing as small backs too often do we?

Let Joey play the role he is best at and the rest will take care of itself.

Steven Baker plays predominantly as a small defender.

I just can't see Melbourne kicking a winning score ........... They have just dropped their #1 (Jurrah 34 goals) and #3 (Sylvia 19 goals) goalkickers for the year and Green has only scored in x2 of his last 4 games (x2 against Port and x4 against Hawthorn) so he would need a pretty big reversal of form.

I think they will come out pretty revved up, like North did last weekend, but won't be able to sustain it for the 4 quarters and will be over-run in the 3rd.

was looking at the team sheets and thinking the same thing. they will need a forward to have a stand out game and/or brad green to turn back the clock.

can't see there midfield getting enough supply to the forwards.

much the same as last week, they may score early on the rebound or fast plays but that is unsustainable as the game progresses.

they are slightly stronger in the mids then last time we played the with mckenzie and scully in, though but I still dont think that brings them up to par.

We need to shut Green out of the game from the start. He is their captain and if he is up and about then we may have some problems.

Watts, Dunn and Howe could play forward. I hope Henderson gets the chance to play on Watts just so we can maintain our structure. Thornton and Laidler should be able to hold the other two. Like Jurrah, Howe has a great leap and can take a grab, so we'll need to show him some respect.

Our smalls and medium look too quick for their backs. With Thompson holding Betts last week and the height in their backline, Frawley might take Eddie this week. Garland might take Walker if he plays in front like Silvagni did to Franklin last week. Think Frawley would be a better match for Walker and Garland for Kreuze. Which might free up Garlett and Betts who should have more space to work this week.

Who takes Green?

Would we look to Laidler or Duigan?

Henderson to play on Watts. If they decide to play him as a spare man in defense again, Henderson must go with him and present.

Armfield to run with Davey or Scully who both will be under done.

I'd like to see Duigan on Green. Tough as nails v. Soft as butter :)

I despise the fact Aaron Joseph keeps getting a game, his skills are a joke and he is a pussy(I have seen him pull out of many a contest this year).

ALL I CAN SAY IS THE HE MUST GIVE BRETT RATTEN THE GREATEST BLOWJOBS KNOWN TO MANKIND IN ORDER TO GET A GAME.
He is a joke and should be delisted at the end of the year if we are serious, he would not get a game in any other team including GWS next year.
I would spank you for carrying on like that if you were my kid.

Yeh just can;t see how Melbourne can win this, they would have to play way out of their skins and we would have to do everything wrong....too much on the line...Had we kicked straight last week we would have smashed Nth...our midfield is too strong, Judd Murphy etc, rucks should absolutely dominate and one of Eddie or Jeffy to have a big night, open spaces...we love it

Blues by 10 goals plus

WTF is wrong with you? Seriously there is no need to start talking like that it only makes you look like an idiot.

As for Joseph being selected, well he has proven that he can be a good tagger in the past but I think his role as a defender this year has exposed his weaknesses a bit.

For now I'll back Joseph and would like to see him play a tagging role on Scully this week. But I don't think he'll keep his spot when Carrots comes back.

We'll win. Very confident about this game. So confident that i put some $$ on Carlton being the highest scoring team for the round :D

Geelong at Cat Park against a Ablett-less Suns might shake that faith. ..

Yeah i know but they were paying about $3 each and it hardly seemed worth putting money on them.

Carlton at $11 just looked like a dark horse :)
I'd say a $3.00 near-certainty is a pretty good bet. Too many people lose money betting on the outside chances when there is perfectly good cash to be made betting on favourites.

Then again, Melbourne are a rabble so you just never know.

Yeah i don't bet too often and when i do it's only $3-$4 multis. I've luckily won at least $300 from around 6 multis throughout the year :)

Wasn't interested in a multi this week so just threw $5 on the Blues simply because, you never know :)

Nicely done. :thumbsu:

Never any reason to bet big money. That's how you find yourself in a hole.

Saints by 40+ and Geelong over 100 is going at $6.60 if you're feeling lucky.
