Re: Carlton vs. Hawthorn @ Etihad. Friday 19th. Aug. @ 7.40 p.m.

they did the same to you guys the week before, we always battle to beat north they are a bogy team for us. In all honesty it will be a hum dinger, if we are slightly off our game you guys will win no doubting that.

Bad kicking 11 14 to 9 8 we were ahead the whole game,

Hum dinger for sure, two great teams at it :thumbsu:

Thanks numbers - BTW, the 3rd and 4th qtrs are yet to be uploaded by the AFL site...give it time

Welcome back ZEE !!!

Should be a ripper of a game, and what raff23 says is hard to argue with. They really do match our strengths in class off HB, a solid Ruck combination, a very good midfield and genuine x-factor

Should be a slobberknocker

Judd (watch out Sewell LOL) , Murphy, Robinson, Gibbs, Ellard throw in
Yarran (going to be a deadset gun) et al

Our small forwards are gonna create some headaches...

You been watching Carlton??? , I watched your North game,

Feel the Hawks are suss down back, against a quality forward line....
I watched you guys against them too, you guys played them the week before remember? and you didnt exactly tear them a new one. your small forwards arent the problem, we have the ideal matchups for both, puopolo will take gartlett (there will be some serious tearing up of the turf if these two go flat out), guerra to take betts. I could say the same for your backline against a quality forward line. Yarran on rioli will be worth the ticket alone but cyril does things not many other players can do, he is a freak. If buddy leads with purpose and takes contested marks like today he will mince henderson, if he gets lazy henderson will have a good game. That is of course if jamieson doesnt get up. It would be silly for you guys to rush him back and im not just saying that because we play you guys, bigger fish to fry in a few weeks, at the end of the day this match is nothing but bragging rights till the next time we play which could be in a few weeks.

There is alot of similarities with the two sides. Just like you said that people have underrated Hawthorn defenders all season, Henderson has only been beaten once (Cloke) and has beaten some quality opposition. Won't be surprised if he does a very good job on Franklin

Need to put some time into Hale on top of Buddy.

Expecting Jamo to be back so hoping we keep Hendo back and really drill into Laids and Duigs (although they probably know) how important them going 3rd man up is.

Last time we played - which was an age ago - we applied almost no pressure to them. We're a faster, better skilled, tougher, hungrier opponent than last time. Gonna be a great match.

lets all hope for a ripper, everyone is sick of the blowouts. 2 genuine high quality teams going hammer and tong a couple of weeks out till the big dance doesnt get any better.

It will happen if buddy gets lazy as i said, the freo and north games he refused to play in front and persisted trying to get the cheapie out the back and he paid the price for it going goaless the other week and getting lucky with 3 in the last against north. Today even though it was against rubbish opposition he did what he should be doing every week, lead with purpose took contested marks and more importantly kicked straight. Buddy playing that way is head and shoulders the best forward in the comp forget cloke. The guy kicked 100 plus 3 years ago doing that pretty much 80 times a year.

No doubt Buddy is similar to Fevola in that it is up to Buddy how many he kicks, rather than the defender (if that makes sense, and will contradict this sentence right now)

However, if Buddy has a poor game, i think that will be Henderson (assuming Jamison isn't right to go) will do a good job.

thats all true but were also a better team than last year, shades of 08. Only difference this year is that there are 5 standout teams and back than there was the 2. It will be a premiership well earned this year.

Re: Carlton vs. Hawthorn @ Etihad. Friday 19th. Aug. @ 7.40 p.m.

if you say so champ, you coming up against the best grunt midfield in the comp and teams have been saying that about our backline all year, when are you going to learn?.

Just remember which Board you are on champ.

I know, why I said "will be a great match"...

The lower echelon of our clubs have both stepped up.

IMO the Hawks have a slightly better bottom 6 - but (again) IMO our top 6 are better. *cue hodgepodge*

have to wait and see, we will know early on if its all in buddy's head or henderson is genuinely beating him.

name 1 area of the ground you are better, if you say ruck you havent watched the bailey-hale combination since it started. Midfield? mitchell, hodge, lewis, sewell (juddy look out) shiels (going to be a deadset gun), throw burgoyne and rioli in there, you would have to have an unbelievable midfield to beat that, having said that its 50-50 lol. We are the better team we just have to produce it on the night. Just a bit of banter btw guys its going to be a cracker of a match.

This is not a banter thread if you haven't noticed & I suggest you stop baiting on our Board.

massive call but tbh i cant emphatically say no. Probably 1 and 2 in regards to top 6 in the comp if that makes sense.
