Interesting that you don't rate them.Yes.
Thanks for asking.
Ponder this.
For significant periods of the game we were better than the swans and had the momentum. We had a few lapses in work rate to let them in, after that they kept up the pressure and work rate - many of our players turned up their toes. We competed but didn't work and didn't take opportunities with ruthless aggression.
We lost above the shoulders and it smelt like the GF with many of the same contributors.
Haven't figured it out yet as to whether it's just bad form, or has the hunger gone? At times it almost seems that the team hasn't got anything to give - they look so lethargic. Has the loss in the GF affected them mentally - that's the question? They seem to be coasting lol.He has a point Sydney struggled against GWS and Hawks have been lucky the last 3 weeks.
It's just frustrating that are near full strength we are playing so poorly.
I think that is the big question -lack of motivation. Your comments are spot on.Talent wise yes but our mentality just isn't there. We just don't have that killer instinct.
We were desperate to win this game yet where was the desperation? Where was the second efforts? The gut running?
When the game was there to be won Swans wanted it more. Why? We don't even try to win GF rematches.
What does it take to motivate these players?
You've just answered your own question - Pyke was gold as a stoppages coach and is a big loss. Shame he was headhunted by Adelaide!Pyke leaves to Adelaide they lose Dangerfield and start dominating at the stopages. We gain Redden with Cox now our stopages coach and we go backwards.
Surprised Redden didn't have a better day - would have thought the conditions would have suited him down to the ground? Why Redden over Hutchings? Hutchings has way more credit in the bank than this bloke - particularly in a game like this.
As much as we hang heaps on McGinnity for his lack of skill, one thing I will give him though is that he never stops trying. In this regard a few of our players need to have a good look at themselves (re lack of endeavour). Too many are waiting for somebody else to do the hard work.Bennell? Hutchings? McGinnity? Someone with a few ****s to give perhaps? Lamb? Nelson?

How old is Le Cras now. It's just odd that he has gone backwards so much this year (so far). Has he lost a bit of run and is slowing down? Just a thought.I dont care if Cole is not a forward . Lecras doesnt deserve his spot in the team at the minute

That's why last year when we kept winning that I thought 2015 was the year that we had to win the flag as we were not going to get such a soft draw again. How many top 6 teams did we play away last year? Hawks in the GF was the only one?
We weren't expected to win this one, so no reason for melts.
Now that we have the Hawks and Swans out of the way, we have a pretty favourable run for the rest of the season with the exception of 3 hard to win games (Adelaide in Adelaide, Hawks at Domain, Geelong at Skilled - you could throw in North at Domain, but the home ground advantage will probably get us over the line); the rest we can absolutely win even if some of the matches are close (e.g. Bulldogs at Etihad).
There is no reason we can't be in the same position we were in last year when we finished second (16 W, 5 L, 1 Draw) at the end of this season given our draw.
I think having two tough games at the start of the season - with our pre-season starting later due to finals and not yet being in peak form - is clouding where we really stand.
Think they have a few friends lolMackenzie and Sheppard - 2016 spuds of the year
I don't get this. Basically accepting we are terrible away from home against good teams and then rely on the draw at home in a hope to make the top 4. Can we stop accepting mediocrity and expect this team to start competing every game.We weren't expected to win this one, so no reason for melts.

We were in the lead part way through the 3rd quarter against a top 4 team at a ground we rarely play at and have not won at since last century.
Isn't that competing? It's not like we were blown out of the water until we gave up hope in the fourth when it was too much to come back from.
This is the exact reason why we never be a champion team.
I guess you're right, lets disband the club and quit wasting our time.
