Not so beat up about the loss today. Nor last week for that matter. We lost to Pies and GWS. 2 sides who should figure at the pointy end. They are good sides.
GWS had to prove something yesterday after getting spanked and did they? I actually don't think so. 2 players down at half time. On top of who was missing. 27 degrees. We were long shots really. Cameron played the best game a KPF will play this year, it took that. Can you honestly tell me, reflecting on that game that if we didn't go 2 down and had even Grimes, Houli and JR8 in we woukdnt have won? I think we would have and full list vs full list yesterday and we do it comfortably.
You can spout the system over talent and good sides cover outs line as much as you like but they are cliches and hyperbole most of the time. You can't cover what we had missing yesterday. You just can't. The fact we had a cheeky chance at times speaks volumes. Some players do gotta go, no doubt and the 22 who go out there di have to be accountable and they are wearing the yellow and black etc etc. The reality check is that our culture is fine. Hardwick can coach and this does not spell the end. We just gotta grind out some wins and stay within touch.
Pies are also 1 and 2, do u see any white flags?

Watch Hardwicks press conference to get a gauge on who will (or wont) be dropped.

Pretty much said he was very happy with the endeavour and effort just execution wasnt there and in the end thats what killed us. Obviously referring to fumbles and bad kicks which cost us turnover goals looking at Castagna, Graham, Butler, Prestia, Ellis and Markov on multiple occasions. His next comment is key "we control that and will get better through training and building confidence". So for those who want/expect them to be dropped will be disappointed. Doubt he'll drop any of them for form or errors, will only be about team balance with whose coming in and whose out(cotch, dusty? out, Grimes, Caddy Houli? in).

Forget about wholesale changes, not going to happen
yep, Hardwick has never been one to make wholesale changes. Bit of a shame, I'd love to see Ellis, Butler and Castagna all get a kick up the arse but it will be one dropped at most.

agree, Butler and Ellis dont survive the chop for mine Castagna a bees dick behind, Bolton deserves a run but due to enforced changes (likely 3 this week) Bolton will probably have to cool his heels in the vfl for another week while we have to watch the shit show from butler and george again. Ellis is just keeping bachars seat warm.

I kind of feel like we’ve betrayed Lynch. :(

He’s quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

I know he’s got 7 years but he came to us to play finals and it looks like we’re not playing finals this year.
Nothing is guaranteed mate. If you want that then buy a sidcrome socket set. All players know this.

The debut from Stack yesterday was one of the best I’ve seen - after the first clanger out on the full he was brilliant. Played with the perfect mix of risk taking, flair and some real hardness. Should be very proud of himself... Just can’t understand how the **** a guy like him with one preseason could look so much better than our more experienced players, who looked incredibly second rate.

I don’t care a stuff whether Cox should have been reported or got a week or not, but whoever that gutless dog was who pushed Rioli into Davis he should get weeks.
Rioli can’t protect himself and could’ve ended up in the hospital with a ruptured spleen.
People want a week for a punch to the chest and that wasn’t even a free.
Needs to be some book throwing involved for that sh.t.

So is it to early to early to discussing our impending top 6 draft pick candidates.....i look forward to the responses of those who don't get the tongue in cheek bit

Rance will return over time but might not recover career-best form.
We need to prepare for the future.
We need to be ruthless and axe the deadwood at the end of the year.
Create salary space to acquire a key position defender, say 22-23 years old, and a mid.
Key defenders are best developed than recruited, look at Melbourne paying an arm and a leg for May and Lever

Not too early nor too late... we are closing down the club.

My thoughts:

- I said it on the Bigfooty Tigercast (shameless plug), the response was more important than the result. For the most part, we got back to the Richmond way of playing. Still improvement there no doubt, but a step in the right direction.
- when you have the following out: Riewoldt, Rance, Houli, Caddy, Short, Grimes Cotchin (for half the game) and (arguably) Grigg, a lot of that calmness, finishing ability, understanding how to capitalise on momentum (and arrested when it’s opposite) and that refinement that GWS had. There were three or four two-goal swings that I think with our best line-up don’t happen.
- Garthwaite (third game and slightly underdone), Balta (second game and first as a key back) and Stack (first game) all did things that were positive. They will be better game after game. Inexperience (among other things) played in to the Giants’ forward line success.
- 2017 and 2018 are over. We can’t be that team anymore on the simple back of rule changes (to a small degree) and personnel (more to the point). This group will likely get even younger with bolton, Naish and Ross all potentially putting their hands up for first team selection. We will have to grow and develop and discover over the course of the season what’s the style and the structures that we need to have success. I find that terribly exciting.
- for the previous point to work however, we have to address second ruck (especially against Port next week with Ryder and Lycett) and defensive negation tactics. Sidebottom and Whitfield have towelled ya up in consecutive weeks.
- Could make up to five changes next weekend:
Cotch (inj) —> Ross
Short (inj) —> Houli
Markov (omt) —> Caddy
Ellis (omt) —> Grimes
Butler (omt) —> Bolton

Considering the circumstances, don’t think this is the time to get alarmed.

This is why I want to have Balta slotted into CHB and left their for the remainder of the season.

Stack to move up the ground next week hopefully if Houli comes back.

We broke down through the middle and up forward from poor kicking yesterday.

Stack can help improve that with his kicking skills.
Stack is our best player. Should be played centre and acting captain.

Stack was magnificent, hope he plays the rest of the year.

Bring ross and caddy in for cotch and dusty, higgo to play more mid also.

Houli in for short
Grimes in for markov
