"We just felt in our interests its time for someone else ... I don't think we need to rebuild, we need to refresh.
He must be kidding - They need an urgent rebuild due to a whole bunch of ageing stars, permanent injury to their brownlow medalist Cooney and a bunch of younsgsters that don't look like they will take the Bullfdogs to premiership glory (Stack, Higgins, Barlow, Hill etc etc)
They do have a great nucleus of good players but the rebuild must start now - not pissy tinkering around the edges like a "refresh" suggests.
If Smorgan really believes that, then the fish really is rotting from the head.
Just saw it on Fox Sport news that Eade WILL coach the last 3 games... so yep just a non-renewal of his contract
I fear there are dark, dark days ahead.
Maybe they should have stuck with Wallace.
our W/L ratio is one of the best in the league over the last 5 per dollar spent on footy dept.
I'm struggling to see the rationale for moving on a coach who has been severely under resourced in his main coaching tool, yet has taken us to 3 prelims in a row. The persons moving him on have done little in the way of addressing that area as we are still riddled with debt.
Simon Garlick and james Fantasia do not fill me with the greatest sense of confidence. Garlick's appointment was very on the nose and he hasn't done much to change that view.
Rodney Eade is a very astute coach and student of the game. There is far more to this than meets the eye and it stinks to high f******** hell
I fear there are dark, dark days ahead.
"Dog days" one might say
They do end though, according to one Florence Welch...
We should have stuck with a coach that actually left us and was then disastrous in his next job?
Which is a vote of no confidence, and effectively a sacking.

I thought he was OK on 3AW actually.
Why do you think he left you? Atrocious resources, losing culture.
Has anything changed at the Western Oval?

If you want evidence of why Footscray has only won one flag this is it.
Absolutely gobsmacked at the decision.
Rocket deserved a chance to build a list that was his and not remnants of past regimes, and he's not going to get it.
Hopefully he goes to Melbourne and takes their talented list to a flag.

how much money do you need to get your players to push up the ground to defend?
