imo Gawn is the number 1 ruck, NN is close (but I can see why people have NN at no 1) then there is Grundy, then there is ******* infinite daylight to the next
If NicNat smashes Grundy in two weeks, he's #1. Fair enough?

You have to consider the opponent. Gawn got hold of Matthew Flynn, who's played 3 games. NicNat carved it up against Big Scotty Lycett, who is also a superstar in his own right. A hero of the blue and gold who combined with Nathan Vardy to get the better of Grundy, Gawn, Grundy in consecutive finals on the road to glory in 2018. I'm sure you remember the PF bloodbath that set your club back two years. NicNat made Big Scotty Lycett look second-rate, with all due respect.

I actually think Jarrod Witts from GC is probably the best of the rest, NicNat, Gawn and Grundy aside.

NicNat when he's on song is unstoppable in the same way that Dustin Martin is unstoppable. It's a one-on-one contest. You can't double team him. You can't defend him. And even if you're 200cm, he can jump over you.

Tom McCartin is too young, so he doesnt deserve a mention.
I wont mention his brilliant start.
Its not worth mentioning.

Cheers thanks, no worries, dont mention it.

Name a better ruck than NicNat.

I'll wait.
Gawn for me is and has comfortably been the better player.
Id argue Grundy too, but that's probably more debatable.
I have Nic Nat third, which is still great.

It's then a massive gap to the next ruckmen in the league.

Gawn's definitely in the discussion.

Not sold on Grundy. With the game on the line against Brisbane he failed to impact the stoppages at all. Interesting watching vision on Final Call after the Melb vs GWS game. He gets the tap but it just gets sharked, or the player instantly gets tackled every time.

Used to grab it nout of the ruck a lot but better apparently the mids told him to stop doing that? Those mids need to pull their heads in because since he's stopped he's no longer been as dominant as he was.

Bizarre that the players/coaches would stop telling him to play to his strength in ruck contests.

Il concede I'm lineball on where Grundy sits, but it's clearly those 3 and a gap to the next.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti has started the season very well, no idea how he stacks up against the other small forwards though.

Fogarty has been in our second best player so far this season. There are 40 spots in the squad to be shared over 18 teams at 2.22 spots per team on average. I don’t think it is far fetched to suggest a sides second best player could be in the running for the squad, especially at this early stage.

3 games in ffs. There will be some outliers.
Is probably second to Walsh in our BNF currently.

So who are you including out of interest? And since when has an All Australian team been selected on winning games?
Im just taking the piss out of sweet Jesus as apparently lachie Fogarty can’t be included because he plays for Carlton. But to answer your question. Fogartys year has been better than AMT.

Ill take the small forward averaging 2.7 goals a game over the one averaging 0.7 thanks.

That’s one of the only stats he leads in. Fogarty is elite for tackles, inside 50s, score involvements, disposals and efficiency. All way ahead of AMT bar the SI. He even gets 3 clearances a game. 4 intercepts. All elite. It’s only a 3 game record but it’s ALL FOGARTY except for AMT has 3 more goals this year (an extra 1 a game). Half of which came in 1 game. FOG is ultra consistent.

Are you still taking the piss or what?
AMT 8 goals
FOG 2 goals
That’s 6 more not 3 and 2 more a game, that’s a pretty big difference I would have thought.
Half have not come in one game either, 2,3 and 3 have been the splits, quite consistent.
AMT also leads him in goal assists and score involvements, Fogarty may lead him in tackles but AMT leads him in tackles inside 50.

Admittedly without watching a lot of Fogarty this year it would appear he spends a lot of his time between the arcs hence his higher disposal numbers and as you alluded to his clearance work.

If I am picking a pure small forward then AMT is miles ahead of Fogarty at this stage.

My bad I thought he had 1.7 scores a game.

B: Jordan Ridley - Darcy Moore - Steven May

HB: Changkouth Jiath - Tom McCartin - Shannon Hurn

C: Jackson Macrae - Travis Boak - Sam Walsh

HF: Dustin Martin - Taylor Walker - Isaac Heeney

F: Josh Kennedy - Josh Bruce - Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

R: Nic Naitanui - Marcus Bontempelli - Jack Steele

I/C: Jack Bowes - Max Gawn - Tim Kelly - Zac Butters

How's Darcy Moore getting listed in people's Best 22?

You would be hard pressed to say he has beaten either of his opponents in the last fortnight, let alone convincingly enough to be in the AA side.

He beat McKay, as weird as it sounds to say considering he kicked 4.

Interesting start to the year. I don't feel like any of the big guns have come out firing in the first few rounds other then maybe Dusty. Expect to see a fair few changes to this team over the next few weeks.

If CJ isn't in consideration for your team then you haven't watched all the games.

CJ has played a truly unusual style of intercept marking, running bounces, and high possessions, from wing to deep forward.

He is unlike any other defender in the game right now. perhaps

He is exceptional. I would have him in the team at the moment.
