McKenzie is another GC player missing from this poll.

The question isn't do you start with these guys. The question is how do you start with 4 or 5 of them in your mids!!!!!!!!.... who cares about a rnd 1 zero when their job security is soooo much better than other players and their scoring potential is better too.......:p:rolleyes::p:eek::p:rolleyes::p:rolleyes:

Good VFL player but lacks the class at the top level. The GC younger bucks have quickly added some size over the preseason and are the future.

Nothing wrong with a score of 49 when i presume he wouldve been eased into his first game of the season. Probably didnt play much TOG. Hes a lock best 21 player at GC for me.

TAC is a fair bit easier than SANFL or VFL. But still its a good guide to understand how well the player may be in relation to DT.

So many good back rookies this year. IMO easily stronger than any other group. Forwards have alot of standouts but lack a little in depth. Midfield lacks quality and depth IMO.

Im gonna try and pick a few more of my DPP players in the midfield (Heppell, Hibberd, Goddard) ect so i can have more rookies in the backs.

Illes is easily best 21 no doubt IMO. He is the next best GC rookie behind Harrisin the mids, maybe Swallow is close but he seems too expensive and with byes in round 1-9 means he only gets 5 price increments and hes already priced at 40 and i cant see GC rookies avg that much.

You can't see GC rookies averaging 40? Swallow is the best midfielder drafted in a decade, he will average close to 80

Think he means that much as in too much (say 50 or 55), not 40 specifically.

I was pretty keen of Iles as well and was surprised at the lack of love he was getting. I'm 99% confident he is best 21 material as well, but only playing one NAB cup game has me a bit concerned and I'm pretty sure he isn't named again this week?
I'm still pretty confident he'll play week 2, but you have to weigh up whether it's a risk worth taking. Tough choice, I think he can average about the same as Swallow while saving you 50k, so he is certainly tempting.

its not like the whole team is going to only get like 200 possessions for the match, so clearly some of their players are going to get plenty of points. Swallow will be the leader of the non-mature agers and Toy, Matera etc wont be far behind

Its fair to say GC will get beaten quite easily and quite often next year. Eg: I think they will struggle to win games. This week should be an extremely good indication against Brisbane to see how well they may actually go. Brisbane play there best side and GC likely will as well but without Ablett, Illes and anyone missing with injury.

From what ive seen by looking at scores GC look like they will struggle to put up numbers.

There are exactly 0 players in that list I want in my team. Hence I went for a midpricer strategy.

I think you need to iron out some of these selections.

I c wat u did thur. Jarrad probably doesn't have the job security to be worth a DT spot though IMO (although if I was coach he'd play 22 games barring injury, I have some serious man-love for the kid).

Jarrad Irons aint that good. Unless he has improved drastically over the 3 months of preseason he has done than he wouldnt even get a look in, unless the port side is really that bad. Irons wouldnt get league game for any of the top 8 teams in the WAFL this year.

How many of Port's pre-season games have you watched this year, DWD? If the answer is zero like I suspect it is, I'd advise that you STFU because you have no idea what you're talking about.

Considering im mates with Sid, went to school with him for 5 years, played with him for 2 years, played against him and followed his progress last year, i think i know a whole lot more about him.

But yes he mustve improved drastically over 3 months of preseason with port. I saw the first NAB and he looked out of his depth. The other 2 which DT wise he did quite well in, i missed.

He may well lineup for round 1, but i wont be picking him.

Hope that helps.

Any thoughts on Sam Iles? I read he finished third in the Liston 2 years ago and won GC Best and Fairest last year ahead of Swallow and Harris. He is 26 in 2011 so is one of their few senior players. He will have a hard body and won't need to be rested. He also is more likely to be consistent than an 18 year old.

I am Toying (no pun intended) with Swallow, Harris and Isle in my mids. Although concerned about having 3 players from one team in one place as it seems like a recipe for donuts. This means making a choice of 2 out of these 3. I am locking in Harris, so it is down to Swallow 160 V Isle 97.

Any wisdom for this conundrum? Iles seems like the smart choice assuming he is up and about. But is a hard to leave out golden boy Swallow.
