We played shit, were smashed in almost every stat, looked lethargic and disinterested for large parts of the game, and still only lost by 20pts.

That's why we're the best team in it.

Nearly 1000 posts would suggest otherwise. I apologised at the beginning of my post above, but won't apologise that I don't have time to read through 20+ pages of stuff. I was simply after a bit of info.

Think Lunchie was tongue in cheek;)

Sorry if this has already been raised in here, but why was Sam investigated for his dumb little knee on Thompson (and thankfully it was thrown out), but nothing has been said, or investigated about Thomas' gutless knee in the first quarter. Channel 7 didn't even show a replay of it.

I think it has been mentioned somewhere here and I heard a talk back caller mention it on the radio and the radio presenters were also ignorant of Thomas' knee. It just shows how arbitrary and influenced by the media the MRP is.

No one in the media has raised the point either that most of our players finished the game with scratches all over them and several went off with the blood rule. Yep, Hawks are the only ones to blame for anything in that match

Petrie can thank the Hawthorn medicos for allowing him to play this week. A lot of other clubs would have lied about the servereness of the eye gouge.

Yeah the COLAS would of submitted a photoshopped picture of *insert player here* with a severed head!

I thought we did well to be only 20 points out of it at the end against North on Friday night. I think there were three reasons that we lost and they actually combine to a loss that should have been much greater. The three reasons I thought we lost it were:

- North Midfield Domination
- Defensive Errors
- North Momentum at Home

Perhaps it is searching for a silver lining, but I am not too pessimistic.

Check it out my thoughts from the match on my blog.

Pfft 1000 posts so newbie :)

It's called hitting the top of the square when the goal is unlikely. The team does it all the time.

Some ridiculous crucification of Breust from last night. I think it's the fans that have been sucked in by this 'run of goals' rather than Breust.

Luke Breust said:
''Over the last couple of weeks I probably didn't take shots I would have in the past – the main one being the North Melbourne one, where I had a set shot from the boundary and ended up squaring on the inside."

Despite his comments I'm still not convinced and certainly don't think it's the issue it was made out. He was tucked up on the boundary. The shot gets taken sometimes and mostly missed. More often the top of the square or centreing kick is what happens anyway. It's not like he was passing up really gettable chances in order to obtain the record. It was a highly improbable shot anyway.

That wasn't the only one he passed off, it was just the most glaringly obvious. Glad he admitted it and hope he was given a rev behind closed doors about it.

I don't recall any other pass offs. I do recall when he tried to sidestep an opponent to get a clearer shot and was dispossessed, which got everybody bent out of shape despite it being what he normally does and did many times during that run of 29.

I hardly think Breust is the type of player to play for his own selfish purposes. I reckon he just fluffed it - people make mistakes. He's so tucked in on the boundary that it is pretty acceptable to try to find a teammate with less of an angle.

I can imagine a counter-argument where people are saying he should have found a teammate rather than go for goal.

Birch has been below his lofty standards for the whole season. Really missed gibbo...not just 3rd man up but his composure being the first or second kick out of the back half

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

2nd in our B&F in a premiership year.

As I told you in this thread he had been our most consistent all year.
