Is a bit of a barometer as well. Our form dipped when he missed those games early on, and it took a few games for us to work out how to play without him. Immediately improved us again when he returned.

Bumping this thread due to the glorious form of my man crush Rory Laird.
Was interesting to hear the opposition today talking about how they need to try and cut him out of the game to stop the Crows winning.

The thing that makes me admire him more is that he isn't an athlete like clubs want. He isn't fast. He is small. He doesn't have a "weapon", but he just gives his everything week in, week out. He is an old school footballer, and just like Caleb Daniel he is giving pride to little people....

Smith was very damaging in the 2nd half I felt, I can't see teams putting work into both at the same time, would disrupt team balance/spread too much. Cameron and Milera were brilliant too coming off the back of the square.
Well Mick Malthouse probably would put time into both, but he'd tag Sloane and Crouch also. Full on negative gameplan
Hope Lairdy stays fit all year, such a smart player, I reckon he'll become the next Sam Mitchell stay behind the ball accumulator/distributor/playmaker.
People have said the same thing about Smith. The trick for us is to have enough rebounders they can't lock them all down.

The good thing about Laird is if he was to get tagged out of the game, we could move him to the back pocket and use him as a lock down defender like he began his career doing.
