Traded Rory Lobb - [Traded to the Bulldogs for #30 and F2]

I said this was a lose/lose trade but it's rare you get a true lose/lose/lose trade so quickly. Regardless of what people think, I guarantee we'd have been better this year with Lobb in the same role as last year clunking marks and using Jackson more around the ground. Dogs did not need to spend two 2nds on a 30 year old when they had at least JUH and Naughton every week anyway and Lobb now finds himself in the VFL. What a dickhead

Club needed a second Ruck at the end of the day wouldn’t surprise me if he returns to the senior side this weekend

I dont think there is any justification for spending 2 2nd round picks on a 30 year old that gets dropped to the 2s in their first year at the club, not when you had the players you already had. It seemed weird at the time and nothing this year has indicated otherwise

Wants to play in his first choice position, wants to be paid the big bucks, doesn't put the performances in. Seems to fit in at the Bulldogs because I don't think they have a realistic view of themselves either.

I know that sounds harsh but last year the dogs went from a grand final to finishing 8th on percentage. They lose Hunter and Dunkley so clearly they needed leaders to help drive standards, and instead they proceeded to hand over draft capital and cap space for one of the biggest underachievers in the competition. They have all these players that can rev the Ferrari and only about 3-4 that you'd actually trust behind the wheel. Did they talk to Jack Gunston? Taylor Walker?

Welcome, Rory. Looking forward to those hit ups from Dale & Daniel and plenty of bombs from 50.

Ah well tian , looks like you ll just have to be content with all those re-runs of games Moving forward from here where slobby was constantly getting hit up by dale and Daniel and bombing all those goals from 50!!

Incorrect.

Darcy has been injury prone most of his career. It was certainly a need.
Nah giving up those picks for a player that at best was your third best tall forward and/or your second best ruckman was bonkers

In year two he’s now the fourth best key forward (maybe fifth unsure how Croft is going in the VFL) and/or the third best ruckman

So you now have the gift of hindsight.

Was absolutely a need, and I'd argue still is. Is contractor doesn't mean squat if he requested a trade.

Also would be a first if he has done so mid year

There was no hindsight needed on the first part. He was clearly worse that Naughton and JUH up forward and miles worse than English in the ruck when you traded him in

Darcy coming on so well also probably wasn’t too surprising seeing he was such an early pick

Could argue you needed ruck depth but you could have gotten that much cheaper elsewhere

I mainly blame his manager should have clearly seen it wasn’t going to work

Yeah it’s been really hard to watch Sam Darcy keep Lobb out of the team by becoming the player single digit Jye dreams of being.

And it was good to see two firsts Luke back dominating at CHF this week. He’s no Lobby but I reckon he might even go for 25 goals one year.

Needed a best 22 forward/ruck after playing Cordy and Khamis there. Lobb kicked 24 goals last year while Darcy was out injured the whole season. Easy to say cheaper than some picks in the 30s but who? Cheap ends up being duds like Koschitzke at the Tigs.

No one thought Darcy would be one of the best forward/rucks in the comp already, but it’s an amazing problem to have. Croft should be a backup option next year too now, so trade Lobb if there’s interest in him and let the kids play.

Ehh it is what it is. We really should have recruited a crash and bash first ruck and had English as the Ruck Forward, but that was never going to happen. I thought he'd be best 22 this year, but Darcy has come on quicker than expected. Without Lobb, we'll be rooted if one of English or Darcy go down

Why Melbourne didn't try to get him as part of the Jackson trade I will never understand. A chance he ends up there now you would think
We need that type of player. But I don’t rate him. You want a third rounder and bulldogs pick up the majority of the $ type deal. But realistically I don’t want him. Lacks the mongrel. Much like Schache.
