Every team has them
I'd stuck up for him for years, no more. His selfishness and laziness spreads to the whole list. So many youngsters have come in first season and shown they chase and tackle, then they get slack because the senior players show the way to cheap footy.

No more, i'm ****ing sick of it. I'm sick of watching stand and stick a flaccid arm out without actually moving and pretending to put in an effort. Zach M is starting to go that way, and by **** will I allow it to happen to Pidge and Parish.

We all know what will happen, the players will come out mid week saying how bad they were and it's not the Essendon way, but you know what, it's exactly Essendon, it's been Essendon for 10 ****ing years. They won't change, so we need to make the change.

NP: I'm not yelling at you specifically, you were just the unlucky one I quoted and then angry ranted to.

To be honest draft picks don’t matter, Hawks/Geelong haven’t had a first round winner in ten years. Development is where it’s at.
The two teams to benefit most from two new start up teams. They didn't need picks. Suns/GWS were gifted picks. Geel and haw were gifted flags, mid range teams were absolutely punished. Essendon ? SMASHED

Have a look at this.

Means nothing. 6 of the top 11 of those teams covering the most 'distance' (*estimation on Telstra's part) lost, while the winner of the largest margin covered the second least.

If you can kick properly over large distances, and catch them properly on the end of them, you don't need to cover large distances after all.

They have at most five players each in their best 22 from before the expansion teams. Little relevance to their current sides.

Nah I feel you and I’ve felt the same with him, thought he was better with that side of the game in the 2nd half he even tried hard in a new role down back and atleast kept trying something.

We don’t have any speedy players in the VFL to take his place on the wing, hopefully Redman can get over his injury quickly.

Whilst it is only round one, if we stink up the start of the year again and just miss out on finals yadda yadda yadda then the whole thing needs to be blown up.

The senior players, the coaches, the list managers, the fitness team ALL of it.

If we fail to make an impact then we should have blown it up after the ban year and stocked up on a bunch of picks and dealt with the heartbreak of our players leaving. (except for Hooker)

Oh well, hindsight.

Yep...we did the best we could to recover from it all. Got rid of some spuds. Ryder going hurt.

Took the punt and got Parish and Francis and few others that were classy 18 year olds.

Decisions made and we have to work with what we’ve got now.

It’s a brutally competitive comp and we have no choice but to fight our way into form as a group.

There is a 55km difference between the first and second last team and 95km difference between us and second last. Suggests there is a clear AFL standard and we weren’t close.

So hawthorns 3peat had nothing to do with clubs, screaming out for talent, sitting around on draft day, twiddling their thumbs while the suns and GWS shot fish in a barrel ? It was a good time to be good and a bad time to be bad. hawthorn, no.1 beneficiaries.

I think he is being more realistic than anyone inside or *outside* of the club

Premiership coach with a disgruntled team where the tail was wagging the dog. I think he is worth more than a chance to coach. Don't forget, he was probably (most likely) AFL appointed after no one wanted to come to us in the drug saga.

I have no comment here, as each team does it differently.

Round 1 is a tough call versus round 21.

Was selected in the leadership group. Read into that what you will.

Maybe this is what we need to inspire. Not sure? Without someone like Goddard to make some noise, it will be what it is.

I think we are coming out of the ban period, but only just. We have had to bow down and pander to a few of the players suspended during the time to "gift' spots on the list for a period... in good faith.

We have not one classy permanent forward. Out back 6 gets shuffled around like a deck of cards and never looks settled and organised. It’s panic moments over and over again. And other teams know this. They see our weaknesses in all parts of the ground and exploit it to their advantage.

Orazio would take issue with this

I'm keen to see how we answer...[/QUOTE]

Yeah some good points made.

Fantasia is all class but we can’t base our forward line around a zippy small guy.

We have been calling it for 10 years. I dont care if we loose as long as we try. Today broke me. Half decent teams dont loose like that.
We need a restart. Too many from the CEO and board down to the water boy are comfortable at the club.
I feel insulted. I feel betrayed by the players, coaches, club etc. I feel like a stooge for following a club that has no passion but is filled with self entitlement. The club now rides the coat tails of past legends and thinks it will just happen.
Atleast with the drug saga days the club was exploring all options and pushing the boundaries.
Tonight everyone laughs at us, tomorrow everyone laughs at me at work. It just keeps getting worse. New lows are our thing. My kids might not ever see a premiership, I might not in my lifetime.
Thanks Essendon
