At least DGB will get a game, surely.

Frost - Hartigan - ????
Scrimshaw - DGB - CJ

Morrison moves to BP and Howe comes in?

Morris?

Shiels plays BP on JHF?

Maginess trialled in the backline like in pre-season?

Gunston to HBF? (👀)

Maginness didn't do horribly as a defender, Howe can play back there, Shiels like you said, could potentially be a COVID top up from Box Hill, Morris isn't listed as an injury.

Not ideal but there are options, if our midfielders are caught up in it... that's panic stations.

Sis and Hardwick

If Sicily and Hardwick being out when Bramble and Day are already injured is any indication of our luck this year - well **** me.

Time for Howe to prove that his 2021 form was just the start of his rise.

The midfield heat just went up a notch.
Clearances to ADVANTAGE is the key to winning this game without doubt.
Play as a team we got this.
They have a ordinary forward line so we really shouldn't drop this game.

B: Scrimshaw, Hartigan, Frost
HB: Morrison, DGB, Jiath

C. Ward Mitchell Phillips
HF. Moore Lewis Gunston
F. Breust Kosi Wingard
Foll: McEvoy Newcombe O'Meara
IC: Worpel Lynch Nash Shiels
Sub: Howe

McEvoy first ruck.
Shiels in.
Mitchell and O'Meara to start. With two experienced players out down back we need all the leadership we can squeeze in.

"Hawthorn is confident No.7 draft pick Josh Ward will be fit to take his place in the round 1 side if selected after the club was hit by a spate of Covid positives ahead of the clash against North Melbourne.
Ward put in a slashing audition for his debut against Richmond but pulled up with some calf soreness ahead of Sunday’s clash.
He had scans but was cleared of any damage.

The Hawks believe he will be fit to take his spot in the side if handed a debut.
While they are yet to confirm he will play it is understood he will be picked for round 1.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, they have a number of players in health and safety protocols that would have been selected in their senior side.
It means the Hawks will go into Sam Mitchell’s first contest well short of full strength."

No mention of names.

Other than its contagious.

Hospitalised an NRL player last year for 8 days and he said he thought he could die - was vaccinated and preparing for a boxing bout so not exactly unfit. Yes with vaccinated, fit and young players it would pose less of a threat but it’s not something I’d be letting players just pass it around at training and matches.

Oboy, this will be the granddaddy of * seasons...

Should hopefully level out as the season goes on. The NBA was all over the place early in their season but as time went on it’s been less and less of a distraction.

Forever?

Will we have players missing Grand Finals in 10 years time because they tested positive and have nothing other than a runny nose?

Other than its contagious.

It's already being discussed that in the not too distant future you can be positive but free to go about your business if your symptoms have subsided.

It won't ever go away and won't ever stop being contagious.

I'm not trying to be dismissive of it's potential severity, but this will be a reality we need to face.
